Happy Birthday Jackie Hoffman! Hoffman was seen on Broadway as Grandma in The Addams Family. Her other Broadway credits include Xanadu and Hairspray (for which she received the Theatre World Award). Off-Broadway she has been seen in Regrets Only, Pride & Joy, Book of Liz (Obie Award), Straightjacket, Incident at Cobbler's Knob, and One Woman Shoe. Regional credits include Second City (Jeff Award), Sisters Rosensweig.

Happy Birthday Ann Reinking! Reinking came to critical notice in 'Over Here!' (Theatre World Award), and later went on to originate roles in 'Goodtime Charley' (with Tony and Drama Desk nominations) and 'Bob Fosse's Dancin' (Tony nomination). She also took over leads in 'Chicago', 'A Chorus Line', and 'Sweet Charity'. She appeared in Fosse's semi-autobiographical film All That Jazz, as well as the films Annie and Micki and Maude.

Today in 2007, Young Frankenstein opened at the Hilton Theatre (now the Foxwoods Theatre), where it ran for 485 performances. Young Frankenstein is a musical with a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks. It is based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name written by Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Brooks, who has described it as his best film. It is a parody of the horror film genre, especially the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and its 1939 sequel, Son of Frankenstein.

James M. Nederlander (Chairman) and James L. Nederlander (President) kick off the 100th anniversary of The Nederlander Organization by becoming the New York Landmark Conservancy's first father/son duo to be named "Living Landmarks," an honor that will be bestowed tonight at their annual gala at the Plaza Hotel.

A new advertisement for Madison Square Garden is creating quite a stir in the Broadway community because of its homophobic message. The poster reads: 'It's Friday night. Tune-in to "The Newlywed Game" tomorrow, November 8 at 9pm ET on GSN to see a special themed Broadway episode featuring couples who have been in major Broadway hits including Wicked, Rent, and The Lion King. The three couples have proven their skills on stage, but will it be curtains for them on "The Newlywed Game?" Featured on the show will be Denny Paschall ("Chicago" and "Shrek: The Musical") & Haven Burton ("Rent," "Legally Blonde," and "Shrek: The Musical"), Geoff Packard ("Phantom of the Opera" and "Rock of Ages" ) & Chelsea Krombach ("Wicked" and "Promises, Promises"), and Jim Ferris ("The Lion King") & Erin Maguire ("Avenue Q" tour).

The Public Theater presents the New York premiere production of Giant, an epic love story with book by Sybille Pearson and music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa. Currently in previews at the Newman Theater, the show has pushed back opening night to November 15. Directed by Michael Greif, Giant runs through Sunday, December 2.

Two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes are currently in rehearsals for DEAD ACCOUNTS, the new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien also starring Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton, and two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell. Tomorrow, November 8, Holmes will visit 'Live with Kelly and Michael, where she'll chat about returning to Broadway in the show. Check your local listings.

The Dramatists Guild Fund (DGF) is providing more than $40,000 in emergency recovery grants to theaters affected by Superstorm Sandy. Theaters in downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and New Jersey will receive grants to help them rebuild and move on with their seasons.

According to Deadline.com, stage and screen star Benjamin Walker, who will soon return to Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tine Roof, will lead HBO's upcoming pilot- 'The Missionary.' Walker will play a 'young American missionary who gets caught up in Cold War intrigue while helping a young woman escape East Berlin.'

Due to Hurricane Sandy, Manhattan Theatre Club's production of GOLDEN AGE will begin previews Thursday, November 15 at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street), two days later than initially announced. Opening night for the New York premiere remains Tuesday, December 4.

Former Saturday Night Live funny-girl Cheri Oteri joins the cast of off Broadway's NEWSical The Musical for four weeks only. NEWSical the Musical is the forever changing, completely un-sanitized musical mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof. From Bloomberg's sign language interpreter to Honey Boo Boo Child to the aftermath of the 2012 Presidential Election, NEWSicalthe Musical sets all of today's biggest pop culture headlines to song. Earlier this fall, celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton joined the show for a limited run, followed by Broadway's original Annie, Andrea McArdle. Comedian Cheri Oteri is the next guest star to take the raucous stage. She'll appear in NEWSical The Musical from December3rd through December 30th.

Today in 2011, Godspell opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 264 performances. Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. It opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals many times since.The structure of the musical is that of a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew (though three of the parables featured are recorded only in the Gospel of Luke). These are then interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ treated briefly near the end of the performance.

Signature Theatre embarks on a journey of adventure and romance next summer with an all-new production of the Tony Award®-winning musical Miss Saigon, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. Staged in the intimate MAX Theatre, the show provides an exciting opportunity for Signature to deepen its longtime dedication to the re-imagining of classic musicals in intimate settings. Casting is complete for Steppenwolf Theatre Company's upcoming production of Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party, under the direction of ensemble member Austin Pendleton. Ensemble member Kevin Anderson joins the previously announced cast: ensemble members Ian Barford, Francis Guinan, Moira Harris and John Mahoney with Sophia Sinise. The Birthday Party begins performances January 24, 2013 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Opening night is February 3, 2013; press performances are February 2 at 3pm and February 5 at 7:30pm. Tickets ($20 - $78) go on sale at a later date.

Last night, Broadway's acclaimed record-breaking revival of the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago welcomed singer, songwriter, actor and multi-platinum recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus in his Broadway stage debut as 'that silver-tongued prince of the courtroom,' slick criminal lawyer Billy Flynn. Cyrus will play a limited seven-week engagement at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.) this holiday season, Monday November 5 through Sunday, December 23.
