The New York Philharmonic has announced casting details for its staged production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, February 27-March 2, 2013. The evening will feature Kelli O'Hara as Julie Jordan, Nathan Gunn as Billy Bigelow, Stephanie Blythe as Nettie Fowler, and Alexander Gemignani as Enoch Snow. The production will be directed by John Rando, replacing the previously announced James Brennan due to scheduling conflicts, and conducted by Rob Fisher.

Delman and Amanda Lipitz, THE PERFORMERS, David West Read's new romantic comedy, began preview performances on October 23 - prior to its official opening night on Wednesday, November 14th - at the Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48 St.) in New York City. On November 9th, Cirque du Soleil celebrated the Las Vegas premiere of its newest resident show Zarkana at ARIA Resort & Casino at CityCenter. Zarkana, a visually stunning modern acrobatic spectacular, begins its residency at ARIA following hugely successful engagements at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Arena Madrid and Moscow's Kremlin State Palace Theatre.

Over the weekend, ABC-7 aired a half-hour special on the best of the new Broadway season, including AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, ANNIE, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, CHAPLIN, DEAD ACCOUNTS, THE HEIRESS and THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. The show was hosted by Eyewitness News anchor, Michelle Charlesworth and Henry Winkler currently appearing on stage in a new romantic comedy, "The Performers." THE ANARCHIST, a new play written and directed by DAVID MAMET will be presented on Broadway at the newly refurbished Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). The production will star two-time Tony Award winner PATTI LuPONE, who has previously appeared in Mamet's The Woods, All Men are Whores, The Blue Hour, The Water Engine, Edmond and The Old Neighborhood; and three-time Academy Award nominee DEBRA WINGER, who's previous stage credits include How I Learned to Drive and Ivanov at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts and The Exonerated in New York. Winger will be making her Broadway debut in THE ANARCHIST.

Today in 1989, Grand Hotel opened at the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Al Hirschfeld Theatre) where it ran for 1017 performances. Grand Hotel is a musical with a book by Luther Davis and music and lyrics by Robert Wright and George Forrest, with additional lyrics and music by Maury Yeston. Based on the 1929 Vicki Baum novel and play, Menschen im Hotel (People in a Hotel), and the subsequent 1932 MGM feature film, the musical focuses on events taking place over the course of a weekend in an elegant hotel in 1928 Berlin and the intersecting stories of the eccentric guests of the hotel, including a fading prima ballerina; a fatally ill Jewish bookkeeper, who wants to spend his final days living in luxury; a young, handsome, but destitute Baron; a cynical doctor; and a typist dreaming of Hollywood success.

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, established in 1955, are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre, and this year's nominations shortlist has just been announced. Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper, this year's winners revealed on November 25.

Charlie Rosen's Broadway Big Band has just announced their debut concert performance, taking place Monday November 19 at the Laurie Beechman Theater (407 West 42nd Street ). The concert will feature a 17-piece orchestra and Broadway vocalists performing Rosen's arrangements of classic showtunes, standards, and some new surprises.

Brett Smock and Drew Brody will present an Industry-only reading of their new musical: The Mudge Boy, on November 29th, 2012 at 3pm. The event will feature Donna McKechnie (Irene), James Crichton (Duncan Mudge), Mike Masters (Edgar Mudge), John Arthur Greene (Perry Foley), Jennifer Simard (Emily Foley), Brent Black (Juster Pelkey / Merritt Foley), Lilli Cooper (April), Caitlin Kinnunen (Tonya), Bart Mather (Travis), Jim Schubin (Scotty).This powerful, controversial new work is based on Michael Burke's 2003 film, The Mudge Boy and has been in development for several years. This reading will serve as its official launch.

BARE begins previews Off-Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Monday, November 19, 2012. Opening Night is set for Sunday, December 9, 2012. On last night's episode of GLEE, titled, 'The Role You Were Born to Play,' the school production of Grease was underway, and Marley (Melissa Benoist), Jake (Jacob Artist), Kitty (Becca Tobin) and football player Ryder (Blake Jenner) compete to play 'Danny' and 'Sandy.' Meanwhile, former Glee clubbers Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) returned to cast the play, and Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) struggled with a difficult decision. Miss the episode?
