Improv Everywhere put a Carnegie Hall orchestra in the middle of New York City and placed an empty podium in front of the musicians with a sign that read, 'Conduct Us.' Random New Yorkers who accepted the challenge were given the opportunity to conduct this world-class orchestra. The orchestra responded to the conductors, altering their tempo and performance accordingly.

The 17-week limited engagement of the critically-acclaimed revival of The Glass Menagerie at the Booth Theatre (222 W 45th Street) began performances on September 5, 2013, and opens tonight, Thursday, September 26th. Broadway favorite Sutton Foster will soon lend her voice to an episode of Disney Junior's acclaimed animated series 'Doc McStuffins,' in which she plays a toy fairy who rips her wing. Her episode premieres on Disney Channel at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT this Friday, September 27.

Happy Birthday, George Gershwin! Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris, as well as the opera Porgy and Bess. Gershwin's music has been heard on the Broadway stage in Nice Work If You Can Get It, Crazy for You, and many more.

The Tony Award Nominated Best Revival of a Musical and smash hit production of Tim Rice's and Andrew Lloyd Webber's EVITA opened earlier this month at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI. The national tour of EVITA stars Caroline Bowman (Kinky Boots) as Eva Peron, Tony nominated Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Che and Sean MacLaughlin (Woman in White) as Juan Peron. The cast also features Desi Oakley as the alternate for Eva, Christopher Johnstone as Magaldi and Krystina Alabado as the Mistress. Today in 1979, Evita opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 1567 performances. Evita is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death. Evita began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, and on Broadway a year later, both of which enjoyed considerable success. A major 1996 film of the musical starred Madonna and Antonio Banderas. In 2006, the musical was revived in London, and on Broadway in 2012.

Harold Pinter's NO MAN'S LAND and Samuel Beckett's WAITING FOR GODOT starring Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup, and Shuler Hensley, with direction by Sean Mathias, will begin previews on Broadway at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street) on Saturday, October 26 in advance of the official opening on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Cabaret singer Christina Bianco recently wowed the world, singing Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' as a slew of divas during her recent concert at 54 Below. Since then, she made an appearance on The Ellen Show, at which she performed the song as Kristin Chenoweth, Liza Minnelli, Julie Ansdews, Britney Spears, Shakira and more. 'Sondheim: A Musical Tribute' was the title given to a benefit staged in March 1973. American Musical and Dramatic Academy and the National Hemophilia Foundation first wanted to honor Harold Prince, but he declined, so they chose Stephen Sondheim. Sondheim thought it would be 'merely a dinner,' but it was actually a full-scale production with 33 performers and a 30-piece orchestra, staged on the set of the then-running 'A Little Night Music' at the Shubert Theatre. Today in 1966, Annie Get Your Gun opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 77 performances.Annie Get Your Gun is a musical with lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and his sister Dorothy Fields. The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler. Songs that became hits include 'There's No Business Like Show Business', 'Doin' What Comes Natur'lly', 'You Can't Get a Man with a Gun', 'They Say It's Wonderful', and 'Anything You Can Do.'
