Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Honeymoon in Vegas, the eagerly anticipated new musical with book by Blazing Saddles and Fletchwriter Andrew Bergman and score by Jason Robert Brown will begin previews tomorrow, November 18, 2014 at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). The production is directed by Gary Griffin, and choreographed by Denis Jones. The new musical just got some major support from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE funny man Bobby Moynihan, who was sporting a show t-shirt at the end of this week's episode. Check it out below!

Happy Birthday Brent Carver! Carver is best known for his performances on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman as Molina, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 1993, Fiddler on the Roof, and Parade as Leo Frank. Carver originated the role of Gandalf in the Toronto stage production of The Lord of the Rings and has appeared in several Soulpepper Theatre Company productions such as The Wild Duck, Don Carlos and the Pirate King in the 1985 production of The Pirates of Penzance.

Love Letters began performances on Saturday, September 13, 2014 and officially opened Thursday, September 18, 2014 to critical acclaim, starring Brian Dennehy and Mia Farrow, and now stars Alan Alda and Candice Bergen in a strictly limited engagement through Thursday, December 18, at theBrooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street). The Alda/Bergen cast of Love Letters will be followed by limited engagements of award winning stars of the stage and screen that will include Stacy Keach&Diana Rigg and Anjelica Huston & Martin Sheen. Diana Rigg is appearing with the support of Actors' Equity Association. Today in 2006, Mary Poppins opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre, where it ran for 2619 performances. Mary Poppins is a Walt Disney Theatrical musical based on the similarly titled series of children's books by P. L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film. The West End production opened in December 2004 and received two Olivier Awards, one for Best Actress in a Musical and the other for Best Theatre Choreography. It received seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, winning for Best Scenic Design.

Today in 2009, the first Broadway revival of Ragtime opened at Neil Simon Theatre, where it ran for 65 performances. The musical garnered four Tony Awards including Best Book, Original Score and Best Orchestrations. The beloved Ahrens and Flaherty score features some of the award-winning team's best-known songs including the title song, 'Make Them Hear You' and the anthem 'The Wheels of a Dream.'

Today in 1996, the first Broadway revival of Chicago opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, and it continues to run at the Ambassador Theatre. Chicago is a musical set in Prohibition-era Chicago, with music is by John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Chicago's 1996 Broadway revival holds the record for the longest-running musical revival on Broadway and is its fourth longest-running show.

Today in 2008, Billy Elliot opened at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 1312 performances. Billy Elliot the Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around motherless Billy, who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. It won ten Tony Awards and ten Drama Desk Awards, including, in each case, best musical.
