Happy Birthday, Tammy Blanchard! Blanchard was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012 for her performance in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING and is best known for her portrayal of the young Judy Garland in 'Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows' (Emmy Award, Golden Globe and AFI nominations). Her Broadway credits include Gypsy (Tony nomination, Theatre World Award). She was most recently seen in the film Moneyball. Blanchard's other film credits include The Good Shepherd, Bella, Cadillac Records and Rabbit Hole, and she recently completed The Music Never Stopped, Certainty, Union Square and Burning Blue. Her television credits include 'A Gifted Man', 'We Were the Mulvaneys,' 'Sybil,' 'Living Proof,' 'Amish Grace,' 'The Good Wife,' 'Law & Order: SVU', 'Guiding Light', and the original Lifetime TV movie, 'Of Two Minds.'

DAMES AT SEA will play its final performance at the Helen Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street), Sunday January 3, 2016, at 3pm. DAMES AT SEA will have played 32 preview and 85 regular performances, having opened Thursday, October 22, 2015. In honor of Throwback Thursday, BroadwayWorld is celebrating the past with a new series that will take you back in time with some of our favorite vintage video features. That's right- we are opening up the BroadwayWorld Vaults to reminisce on shows are long gone from the Broadway-scene, but have left an indelible mark on the world of theatre as a whole. Even if you have not yet made it to the Marquis Theatre, chances are that you have still seen Josh Segarra in action this year. Television fans might know him as lovable goofball Bill Cepeda from USA's Sirens or as Justin Voight from NBC's Chicago P.D. Or maybe you caught him starring alongside comedy It-Girl Amy Schumer in her Golden Globe-nominated mega-hit, Trainwreck. Now he's busy making this Broadway season spicer, starring as Emilio Estefan in the hit new musical On Your Feet!. This is far from Josh's first go at New York theater (he has previously starred in such shows as LYSISTRATA JONES and DOGFIGHT), but it's certainly his first major role in the Broadway spotlight. He just checked in with BroadwayWorld about what's been going on at the Marquis since opening night, how he is handling the extra leading man pressure, and why his 2015 was truly epic.

Today in 2009, A Little Night Music opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for 425 performances. A Little Night Music is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. Since its original 1973 Broadway production, the musical has enjoyed professional productions in the West End, by opera companies, in a 2009 Broadway revival, and elsewhere, and it is a popular choice for regional groups. It was adapted for film in 1977, with Harold Prince directing and Elizabeth Taylor, Len Cariou, Lesley-Anne Down and Diana Rigg starring.

Today in 1991, the second Broadway revival of Peter Pan opened at the MInskoff Theatre, where it ran for 48 performances. Peter Pan is a musical adaptation of J. M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan and Barrie's own novelization of it, Peter and Wendy. The music is mostly by Mark 'Moose' Charlap, with additional music by Jule Styne, and most of the lyrics were written by Carolyn Leigh, with additional lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. The original 1954 Broadway production, starring Mary Martin as Peter and Cyril Ritchard as Captain Hook, earned Tony Awards for both stars.

Today in 1989, City of Angels opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 879 performances. City of Angels is a musical comedy with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by David Zippel, and book by Larry Gelbart. The musical weaves together two plots, the 'real' world of a writer trying to turn his book into a screenplay, and the 'reel' world of the fictional film. The musical is an homage to the film noir genre of motion pictures that rose to prominence in the 1940s. It was directed by Michael Blakemore with sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Florence Klotz.

Today in 2006, Spring Awakening opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, where it ran for 859 performances. Spring Awakening is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater. It is based on the controversial German play Spring Awakening (1891) by Frank Wedekind which was banned in Germany for some time due to its frank portrayal of abortion, homosexuality, rape, child abuse and suicide. Set in late-19th century Germany, the musical tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. In the musical, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.The original Broadway production won 8 Tony Awards, including Tonys for Best Musical, Direction, Book, Score and Featured Actor. The production also garnered 4 Drama Desk Awards whilst its original cast album received a Grammy Award.

ITV is putting on its own live version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC this Christmas. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the December 20 live telecast will star Julian Ovenden as 'Captain Von Trapp', Olivier winner Maria Friedman as Mother Abbess, Mel Giedroyc as Frau Schmidt, and Kara Tointon as Maria. Tointon appears in a just-released commercial for the television event and you can check it out below!

Happy Birthday, Mario Cantone! He made his Broadway debut in 1995 as replacement for the role of Buzz in the Tony Award-winning play, Love! Valour! Compassion!. Later that year, he returned to Broadway again in the revival of The Tempest. In 2004, Cantone starred in the Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins as Samuel Byck. His latest Broadway credit was in his second one-man show, Laugh Whore, which he also wrote. Laugh Whore ran from October 24, 2004, to January 2, 2005, at the Cort Theatre and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Special Theatrical Event.

Annaleigh Ashford has been on a roll since taking home her Tony Award in June. Currently starring as Broadway's favorite pooch in SYLVIA, she also juggles her hit cabaret act, LOST IN THE STARS, and her role on Showtime's MASTERS OF SEX. In between it all, she joined a long list of guests for SAG-AFTRA Foundation and BroadwayWorld's Conversations Q&A series, recognizing and celebrating the vibrant theatre community in New York City and the union actors who aspire to have a career on the stage and screen. Happy Birthday, Graciela Daniele! As a performer, Daniele made her Broadway debut in What Makes Sammy Run? in 1964. She studied with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham while working with such luminaries as Bob Fosse, Agnes de Mille, and Michael Bennett, who hired her to assist him with Follies in 1971. Her first credit as a full-fledged choreographer was the 1979 revival of The Most Happy Fella. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, including, most recently, The Glorious Ones (2007) and Dessa Rose (2005) at the Off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Michael John LaChiusa Off-Broadway, most recently Bernarda Alba (2006) and Little Fish (2003).

Japan can't get enough of PRINCE OF BROADWAY (see video below), and that's too bad, because there are just five performances left at Osaka's Umeda Arts Theatre. On opening night, after a solid ten minutes of applause after the final curtain, Prince and the rest of the creative team went out one more time. Despite the show's success overseas, an official announcement has not yet been made regrading a run on Broadway... but that hasn't kept us from wondering. So what's next for PRINCE? We're keeping our appendages crossed for an announcement soon and we'll keep you posted with updates!

The first national tour of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY opens later this week at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre, but you need not wait that long for a sneak peek. Now in its sixth year, West End Bares 2015 took to the skies for TAKE OFF! earlier this year at the legendary Cafe de Paris, to raise funds for the Make a Difference Trust. Hosted by the one and only GRAHAM NORTON, West End Bares: TAKE OFF! featured an incredible line up of West End favourites as they took to the skies to celebrate all things aviation. YouTube sensation Christina Bianco wasn't able to make it to the show,  but she helped to make this year's show brilliant with this special video message. Check it out below!

BroadwayWorld is excited to bring you an exclusive track from the album- 'Sailing On.' The song was the first that Menken wrote with Dean Pitchford in 1982 for an album that didn't end up happening. Now the song is out of the vaults and you can check out Jacobs' rendition below!

Just last month, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented songwriter Jonathan Reid Gealt, who celebrated the release of his new cd, 'Whatever I Want It To Be,' with a concert at the historic music room starring a bevy of Broadway stars. The cast included vocalists Jane Monheit, Loren Allred, Whitney Bashor, and Addi McDaniel and Michael Deleget. Check out highlights from the concert below.
