Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.


MTV News to Cover VMA's Preshow

MTV News kicks off the biggest night in music with the first-ever televised solo performance from Young Money's first lady, Nicki Minaj at the '2010 VMA Pre-Show' on Sunday, September 12 at 8pm (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT.) Nicki Minaj, one of hip-hop's most innovative artists today known for her playful lyrics and fashion forward style, will set the carpet on fire with a live performance of her hit single 'Your Love.' Beginning Tuesday, September 7th, MTV & Nicki Minaj will launch a Twitter contest in which ten lucky fans will win a front row spot to watch her performance. 'American Idol' Adds LA to Audition Line-up

In celebration of the series' momentous 10th anniversary and in an effort to give tens of thousands of hopefuls the opportunity to audition, AMERICAN IDOL will host auditions in Los Angeles beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22. The 10th season of AMERICAN IDOL premieres January 2011 on FOX.

MBT Presents A COOL DRINK OF WATER, 9/17-10/10

Mixed Blood Theatre opens its 35th season on September 17 with the regional premiere of A COOL DRINK A WATER by Broadway-bound playwright Thomas W. Jones II, who also stars in the comedy. The critically acclaimed play, in only its second production after a successful 2009 debut in Atlanta, runs at Mixed Blood through October 10.

KANSA CITTA PUEBLITA Opens at Urban Culture Project, 9/17

Kansa Citta Pueblita is an exhibition of new work by Kansas City-based artist Maria Calderon in which she melds Kansas City's modern culture together with Peruvian folk traditions. In this solo show, opening at the Urban Culture Project Space on Friday, September 17, 2010, 6pm, Calderon presents the community of Kansas City as a pueblo or tight knit community, 'where the people, the places, and the atmosphere exist in a unique balance,' writes Calderon.

Father and Daughter Star in PROOF at PTP, 9/10-25

Quite frequently the twin cities sees lovers, spouses and siblings on stage together, but less often do they see parent and child. Proof marks Kurt Schweickhardt and Amy Schweickhardt's second stage appearance together portraying these close-to-home roles, father and daughter, after Minnesota Shakespeare Project's 2007 production of King Lear.

Vampire Weekend Reschedules Seattle Performance

The Vampire Weekend show originally scheduled for Sunday, August 29th at Marymoor Park has been rescheduled for September 22nd and 23rd at The Paramount Theatre. ALL TICKETS HELD FOR THE MARYMOOR SHOW CAN BE EXCHANGED at NO COST for the new shows, and current ticketholders will have their choice of days. Patrons that purchased tickets for the original show through Ticketmaster either online or by phone must call 1-800-745-3000 to arrange an exchange for tickets to one of the new dates. Patrons that purchased tickets for the original show through a Ticketmaster outlet should return to the outlet to perform the exchange. Patrons who purchased directly at The Marymoor Park Box Office can exchange their tickets at The Paramount Theatre Box Office during regular business hours.

Century 21 Will Replace Lincoln Square Barnes & Noble

As reported previously, the Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center, a longtime staple of Lincoln Triangle at 66th and Broadway, will close at the end of January, 2011 due to high rent. According to NBC New York, it will soon be replaced by the designer-discount store Century 21. This will be the second New York location for the store, the first being near the World Trade Center for the past 50 years. The new store is expected to open by fall of 2011.

Surfside Players, Cocoa Beach, is proud to announce OPEN AUDITIONS for Funny Money, by the master of British farce, Ray Cooney. Mild-manned Henry Perkins accidently picks up the wrong briefcase -- one full of illicit cash -- and decides to keep it, telling his confused wife to leave everything behind and flee the country with him. Arriving at the door is a police detective who thinks Henry was soliciting in the men's room of the pub, followed by another detective who thinks Henry is dead when a corpse holding Henry's briefcase is found in the Thames. Henry's inept attempts to extricate himself from this impossible situation lead to increasingly hysterical situations.

Izzard, Conroy Join 'United States of Tara'

Multi-faceted comedian and actor Eddie Izzard and multiple award-winning actress Frances Conroy will guest star on the SHOWTIME series UNITED STATES OF TARA. Izzard will appear in eight episodes and Conroy in one episode of the third season opposite Toni Collette, last year's Emmy(R) Award winner and this year's Emmy(R) nominee for her role as Tara Gregson, a wife and mother who struggles with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Izzard will play Tara's brilliant psychology professor who is at first a DID skeptic, but becomes fascinated with Tara as a subject, leading him to further explore the condition. Conroy will star as Max Gregson's (John Corbett) mother, a recluse with a compulsive hoarding problem. Production on season three begins mid-September in Los Angeles for a 2011 premiere.
