Deep Dish Theater Reschedules Reception w/ Eric Overmyer, 9/18September 8, 2010Due to a family emergency, acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and producer Eric Overmyer will postpone his visit to the Deep Dish Theater, originally scheduled for September 11, until the following Saturday, September 18. A reception in his honor will begin at 6:30 PM in the theater's lobby. Overmyer is visiting Chapel Hill in conjunction with the theater's production of his 1990 play 'Mi Vida Loca,' which is the opening production of the theater's 10th Anniversary Season.

Moises Kaufman, author of The Laramie Project. Kaufman brings to life poet and author Oscar Wilde and the public trials that ruined him. Wilde, on trial for 'gross indecency,' was at the height of his fame as the author of The Importance of Being Earnest and 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' He first treated the trials as if they were theatre, but later found himself fighting for his freedom and his life. Using real quotes and transcripts from the courtroom, Gross Indecency shows a man having to defend himself -- and his art -- against a society's intolerance.
