Through an on-going relationship with Belmont University, Nashville Ballet will present Aesop's Fables, a children's ballet featuring four tales by the famous storyteller Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in Belmont University's Massey Concert Hall.

STOMP is making its return to the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. The return of the percussive hit also brings some new sections of the show now updated and restructured and the addition of two new full-scale routines, utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans.

BALLAD OF THE PALE FISHERMAN re-imagines the Irish/Scottish folktale of the seal woman-or selkie-in Illusion Theater's seventh annual Lights Up! series. The 2010 Fringe Favorite of the same name has been expanded into a deeper, richer production, fully-produced with original music and incorporating new material. Isabel K. Solo performer Martin Dockery -- a seven-time finalist in The Moth's bi-annual Grandslam Storytelling Championship - presents a one-night-only performance of his solo play, "The Bike Trip."

Two friends, choreographer/artistic director Nicholas Leichter and playwright/actress Eisa Davis come together and invite the audience to join in on their conversation. Leichter and Davis will discuss the use of movement and music to interpret ever changing cultural narratives. Leichter will perform excerpts from his recent works.

As a combined commemoration of the 150th anniversaries of the Civil War and Black History Month, The Ridgefield Theater Barn is presenting a premier reading of an original play about Frederick Douglass' life and the events related to the abolition of slavery. "The Fable of the Man and the Lion" is a new work by a South Salem playwright, Myles Gansfried, whose plays you may have seen at local theaters.

Llama Llama Red Pajama by award-winning Author Anna Dewdney premieres at Stages Theatre Company (STC) Jan. 13 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. This musical production, adapted by Playwright Jennifer Kirkeby and music by Shirley Mier, is perfect for all ages and runs under an hour in length.

Chekhovek, a new comedy adapted and directed by Melania Levitsky from nine of Anton Chekhov's best known short stories, will be given its New York premiere when previews begin Wednesday, February 1, at 8:00 pm for an opening Tuesday, February 7, at 7:00pm at the ArcLight Theatre, 152 West 71st Street.

Casting is announced for The Changeling with rising star Jessica Raine (Earthquakes in London, NT; Punk Rock, Lyric) to play Beatrice Joanna and Young Vic regular Daniel Cerqueira (Vernon God Little, Joe Turner's Come and Gone) as De Flores.

Marcelo Álvarez, who makes his Met role debut as Radamès in Aida this season, has withdrawn from the final three performances of the run. He will still sing Radamès on February 9, 13, 16, and 20, but then must return to Europe for eye surgery. Riccardo Massì will make his Met debut as Radamès on February 23, and Marcello Giordani adds the role to his extensive Met repertoire on February 28 and March 3 matinee. Roberto De Biasio will replace Giordani as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly on March 2.

Rapunzel, the enchanting story of the girl with the longest hair in the world, will be Winnetka Theatre's popular "Especially for Kids" production this season. The funny, witty one-­hour musical for children ages 3-­10 will be presented on Saturdays and Sundays from January 21-­Feb 5th, 2012 at the Winnetka Community House, with performances 11 am and 2pm each day.

Due to sold out houses, Trap Door Theatre is extending the U.S. premiere of The Word Progress on my Mother's Lips Doesn't Ring True an additional week and adding Sunday performances. The production will now close on January 28, 2012.

After a year-long sabbatical, 7Eleven Gallery -- known for inviting artists to experiment and exhibit work in unused NYC real estate -- will reopen this Thursday, January 12 in a new space located on 711 Washington St. debuting the work of over 20 artists.

The Momenta Quartet will perform as a part of the AMPHIBIAN concert series at the HiArt Gallery at Temple University on January 28th. The quartet will perform Dalit Warshaw's Elegy for String Quartet, Rosamunde by Schubert, and new works by Jonathan Gruver and Andrew Taylor.
