Using synthetic materials, such as Astroturf and printed fabric, Fischer creates a fanciful retreat, crafting a tactile experience that is becoming increasingly lost in our virtual world. For six weeks, an animated Central Park will slip into the Arsenal building for this playful illusion.
'Jazz Video Guy' to Appear Live At Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival 2/19-2/20February 18, 2010Bret Primack, aka the Jazz Video Guy, makes his performance debut at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival this weekend with two screenings of his popular documentary and performance films.
The festival, being held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, Maryland, is produced by Washington D.C.'s Jazz Academy and in addition to Bret's work, features such artists as Mulgrew Miller, Bobby Watson, Lewis Nash and Festival Director, saxman Paul Carr.

This season, obscurity comes in the form of two living dolls and one young woman trapped in the shadow of her mother's photographic images in The Lacy Project by playwright Alena Smith. The Lacy Project was selected from a group of thirty new plays submitted to the Strand for possible production.

MIFA Announces Schedule For High School State One-Act Competition at Midland CenterFebruary 16, 2010The best and brightest high school theatre groups will perform at Midland Center for the Arts during the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association (MIFA) High School State One-Act Competition on February 19 - 10:00 am to 8:30 pm; and February 20 - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Thirteen high schools from across the state will compete during the two-day competition. To reach the state level, theatre students must first vie in district and regional MIFA competitions.

Peters (and her dog) will appear on the show's second annual Mutt Show to promote pet adoption, as well as discuss her second children's book titled 'Stella is a Star!'.
