Franklin Performing Arts Company's (FPAC) Family Concert Series continues on March 7th from 3:00pm - 4:00pm, with the children's opera, Hansel and Gretel. The roles in Hansel and Gretel will be performed by Franklin School for the Performing Arts Voice Faculty with Jacque Wilson of Framingham in the role of Hansel, Mariko Matsumura of Stoneham in the role of Gretel and Franklin's Shauna Martin in the role of the witch.

Created especially for the Grammy Award-winning sextet eighth blackbird is Rinde Eckert and Steve Mackey's new music-theater piece, Slide, which the group premiered last summer and to which it now devotes a U.S. tour, with performances in Richmond, VA (March 3), Chicago's Harris Theater (March 24), and College Park, MD (April 9-10).

Ars Nova, under the leadership of Artistic Director Jason Eagan, will present the world premiere of the new musical BLOODSONG OF LOVE with book, music & lyrics by multi-award winner Joe Iconis, and directed by John Simpkins. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center and the New Jersey Youth Theatre (NJYT) announced audition dates for their summer musical collaboration on the Broadway-changing, Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning rock musical, RENT. The production is part of the Arts Center's Summer Musical Program and is scheduled to run in NJPAC's Victoria Theater July 16-25 and tour to the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan, NJ July 30-August 8.

This year, our kids' series takes a sharp turn to starboard for How I Became a Pirate, a colorfully hilarious musical adventure on the high seas! Adapted by Alyn Cardarelli, with music by Steve Goers, How I Became A Pirate runs at 10:30am on March 26, April 8 and 9; 11am on March 27 and April 10; and at 10:30am, 1pm and 3:30pm on April 3.

New for 2010 is $10,000 per year scholarships offered by Centenary College of Hackettstown, NJ. The scholarships are open to all students participating in a theatre program at a FREDDY© participating school that is awarded a 2010 FREDDY© Award. Students must be accepted to the theatre program at Centenary College.

Based on the bestselling autobiography by Corrie ten Boon, THE HIDING PLACE is the true story of a family that fought the Nazi madness with the only weapon they had: love. With the WWII Nazi invasion of Holland, the ten Boom family joins the underground resistance to help save Jewish families, but when they are arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps themselves, they're left with nothing to cling to but their faith.
