On February 1, NYC-ARTS presents a profile of Ghetto Film School (GFS), a non-profit located in the Bronx, and founded to educate, develop and celebrate the next generation of great American storytellers. The program identifies young talent from local communities and provides them with the access, opportunity and resources to pursue creative careers. With locations in both New York City and Los Angeles, and support from major studios in Hollywood, GFS equips students for top universities and careers in the creative industries. 

Reservoir announces the signing of Grammy Award-winning songwriter James Fauntleroy to a worldwide publishing deal. Fauntleroy is the co-writer of Bruno Mars' 6x Platinum and #1 single “That's What I Like”, which won Song of the Year and Best R&B Song at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Mars' 24K Magic, of which Fauntleroy co-wrote eight of the album's nine tracks, took home the Grammy for Album of the Year, making him the first songwriter to receive the award following the Recording Academy's rule change. Fauntleroy is also currently enjoying chart success with Mars' latest single “Finesse” featuring Cardi B, which soared to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was performed by the pair on the Grammy's telecast.

Baltimore-based post-punk band Ed Schrader's Music Beat recently announced their third full-length record and their Carpark Records debut entitled Riddles. Today the band shares the Dan Deacon-produced album's second single and title track. 'Riddles' starts with a gorgeous and entirely unexpected piano introduction that threads throughout the soaring, cinematic song, showcasing the band's sonic expansion on this forthcoming album.

Recognized as a leading voice in choral and musical theatre composition, composer/theatre-maker/singer Marisa Michelson is hailed for writing and/or performing profound works with a rich tapestry of complicated choral and musical stylings. Michelson's 2018 season begins February 1-3, 2018, with the world premiere of The Desire/Divinity Project, a two-part musical piece featuring Michelson and her vocal performance ensemble, Constellation Chor, live orchestration, and dance choreographed by #Mamaisamaker's Emma Crane Jaster (Loft Opera). Directed by Ethan Heard (Heartbeat Opera) and originally choreographed by Chase Brock (currently by Emma Crane Jaster), this Project was developed by Michelson while researching mind/body/spirit practices with virtuosic singing as an artist-in-residence at Judson Memorial Church. Part One: Song of Songs of Songs explores the relationship between the sensual and the sacred, the body and the spirit, through an exegesis of the Western world's oldest erotic poem, Song of Songs.

Academy Award-nominated actors Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will join the cast of House of Cards for the final season. Lane and Kinnear join Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Robin Wright, as well as Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the upcoming sixth and final season.
