The Legendary Soul Man Sam Moore was honored with the Trailblazer Award at the annual Dream Ball Gala on Monday, February 19 at the Bomb Factory in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas. The gala is produced by Nancy Lieberman Charities, a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes healthy lifestyles and educational opportunities for young girls and boys, and is dedicated to expanding and ensuring that educational and sports opportunities exist for economically disadvantaged youth. Moore was presented with the Trailblazer Award by former Dallas Police Chief David Brown, and also performed a short set during the program, garnering rave reviews. Fellow honoree Billy Crystal was joined by Bo Derek, Tony Dorsett, Deion Sanders, Jose' Guzman, and Spud Webb, among other celebrities and local dignitaries, who were also in attendance. The Dream Ball Gala is one of several annual charity events organized by Nancy Lieberman Charities.

London-based OR Media, Ltd. and NY-based indie distributor Paladin have made a deal for the US distribution of OR Media's documentary feature, PATH OF BLOOD, it was jointly announced by OR Media chief executive Jonathan Hacker and Paladin president, Mark Urman. Described as a “documentary thriller,” the film is a provocative and unprecedented glimpse into the world of jihadi terrorism. Directed by Hacker and based on his acclaimed book of the same title, the film was executive produced by Academy Award-winner Mark Boal (“Zero Dark Thirty” “The Hurt Locker”) and Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures. The Film Sales Company represented the filmmaker in striking the deal with the distributor. Paladin plans a multi-city summer release in 2018.

Eva Cassidy's SONGBIRD album was initially released by independent label Blix Street Records in April, 1998. The posthumous release, an anthology of recordings by the Washington, DC-based singer who had died in November of 1996, is comprised of four tracks from her first solo album, LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY(taken from her January 3, 1996 performance with her band at the Georgetown jazz club and locally released a few months before she died); five tracks from EVA BY HEART, the studio album she was recording at the time of her passing, posthumously released locally a year after she died; and one track (Over The Rainbow) from THE OTHER SIDE, a 1992 collection of jazz and blues duets with Washington's Chuck Brown.
