Miracle Theatre Group is pleased to announce that actor CarlosAlexis Cruz has been awarded a 2011 Princess Grace Theater Fellowship from the Princess Grace Foundation-USA. Cruz was also selected as the 2011 recipient of the Grace le Vine Theater Award. National in scope, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA is dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging talent in theater, dance and film by awarding grants in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships.

RENT alum Anthony Rapp (RENT, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown) will collaborate on a one night only reading of BORN BLUE, a new musical written by Caren Tackett (RENT, Hair). Proceeds from the event will benefit New York City based not-for-profit Broadway Impact.

The Independent Eye presents a new vision of Mary Shelley's classic novel. In just two weeks, on September 22nd, Performance Network Theatre will launch its 30th anniversary season with a Gala cabaret featuring a variety of beloved local acts. Entertainment for the event was announced today with popular singing trio The Chenille Sisters and Grammy winner Bill Bolcom and Joan Morris at the top of the list. Canamac Productions will present a riveting new courtroom drama 'Defamation,' which explores the timely issues of race, class and religion, in a play in which Regina Wade, an African American businesswoman from Chicago's south side sues Arthur Golden, a Jewish real estate developer from Winnetka, for defamation. In a unique twist, the audience plays the jury that decides the outcome of the trial.

An additional reading of Burglars of Hamm's new comedy, 'The Behavior of Broadus' has been announced for Sunday, September 18 at 7 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of DouglasPlus Programming. The staged reading is in addition to the previously announced reading for Saturday, September 17 at 8 p.m.
