The Library of Congress today unveiled "The Library of Congress National Recording Preservation Plan," a blueprint for saving America's recorded sound heritage for future generations. The congressionally mandated plan spells out 32 short- and long-term recommendations involving both the public and private sectors and covering infrastructure, preservation, access, education and policy strategies.

Lyric Opera of Chicago's general director Anthony Freud announced today that Broadway's Tari Kelly will portray the feisty Ado Annie in the company's premiere and new production of Oklahoma! directed by Gary Griffin May 4-19 at the Civic Opera House. Casting is now complete for the beloved classic musical.

Luna Negra Dance Theater, Chicago's only contemporary dance company devoted to the Latino choreographic voice, presents "Made in Spain," its 2013 spring program featuring work by two contemporary Spanish choreographers: guest artist Fernando Hernando Magadan and Luna Negra company member Monica Cervantes. The Dirty Sock Funtime Band performs a concert for families at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 pm. Nominated Best Kid's Band by Time Out New York Kids, this high energy group brings a carnival atmosphere to its performance, filled with call backs, sing-alongs, dance-alongs and jam-alongs. To celebrate the holiday of Purim, kids are invited to come in costume and dance to such klezmer rock songs as ClownaHagila. Members of the band include lead singer Michael Messer, Adam Jacobs aka Mr. Clown; guitarists Stephen Jacobs and Bill 'Billy Z.' Phillips; bass guitarist Jasper Leak; drummer Sean Dixon; clarinetist/saxophonist Ken Thomson; and dancer Annie Elmer. This concert is for children age 3 and up.
