BPA will present an array of nationally and internationally-renowned artists for school and community outreach performances throughout each season. This March, the series will welcome One World Taiko, a contemporary Japanese drum ensemble that features spirited drumming and a blend of traditional, contemporary, and world music stylings. One World Taiko performed full time at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center's Japan Pavilion in Orlando, Florida for four years. They have also performed in Japan, Europe, the Middle East, and all over the US at numerous concerts, festivals, celebrations, corporate events, schools, and colleges. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) invites families to uncover the African origins of jazz, blues and beyond on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Musical Roots: From Africa to America, led by Maestro Damon Gupton, will bring new life to jazz, blues and ragtime standards through exciting performances by Baltimore-based beatboxer Shodekeh, pianist Eric Conway, Baltimore City College Choir, tapmaster Karen Callaway Williams and OrchKids. Chris Gutsche's block prints emanate from a flourishing tradition launched by his mother in the 1950s. Inspired by her annually-prepared linoleum block print holiday greeting cards, Chris began to carve and print his own during childhood. Chris has since established and maintained his own tradition for thirty-two years, and he's pleased to share some of his favorites in the March exhibit at the BPA Gallery. He describes the process of creating each work as "something born of the heart, experienced in the soul, and worth carrying forward."

For the first time in over a decade, Ohio State's School of Music presents Mozart'sRequiem Mass in D Minor at 3 pm Sunday, March 3 in Mershon Auditorium, 1871 North High St. Conducted by Robert Ward, director of choral activities, the powerful piece will bring together Ohio State's Chorale, Symphonic Choir, Men's Glee Club, Women's Glee Club, and Symphony Orchestra. In all, the performance will feature 252 vocalists and 35 orchestra members.
