Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) and Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) will showcase the range and beauty of the woodwind sound in a program titled Whirlwind featuring St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble. Two virtuosic wind compositions-written by Gyorgy Ligeti and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart-will be performed with their movements interspersed, highlighting the variety of moods contained within each piece.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents the world premiere of BROKEN AND ENTERED by Madison-based playwright Kurt McGinnis Brown, September 26 - October 14, 2012. After presenting a staged reading of the piece in 2010, MCT brings this new play, which examines changing neighborhoods and perceptions, to its mainstage. BROKEN AND ENTERED performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Studio Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

The prominent and provocative racial justice scholar Cornel West is a well-known intellectual, but less well known is his love of Chekhov, the writings of Stella Adler and the theater. Dr. West values arts education for disadvantaged youth and is an aficionado of legendary acting teacher Stella Adler. As part of the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, Dr. West will participate in a panel discussion about the relationship between access to arts education and economic and social justice. The panel will follow a performance of Julius Caesar by students of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Outreach Division.

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will release his long-anticipated full-length debut album for Warner Bros. Records on October 23rd. The album, for which the title and track-listing will be announced soon, was produced by Gary Clark Jr. and Mike Elizondo, who is known for his work with Mastodon, Fiona Apple, Dr. Dre, and many others.

The Aurora City Council voted last night to award the Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA) an 18-month agreement to provide programming and venue management services for the new RiverEdge Music Garden and John C. Dunham Pavilion, a premier regional festival park currently under construction in downtown Aurora along the banks of the Fox River.
