Victoria Theatre Association presents the first of eight Mid-Day Arts Cafe lunches Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in the Mathile Theatre located in the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. September's Mid- Day Arts Cafe offers an up close and personal look at the many shows presented by Victoria Theatre Association for the 2012-2013 season.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), whose mission focuses on the preservation of musical theater through the restoration and presentation of obscure but artistically sound works, has announced programming for its 2013 season. A one-night-only benefit concert presentation of the legendary 1935 musical revue At Home Abroad kicks off the season on October 15, 2012 at the Peter Norton Symphony Space. Bruce Vilanch, Julie Halston, Christine Pedi, Noah Racey and Margaret Colin are among the cast.

On September 25th, music legend Barbara Cook releases an all new recording, Loverman, her latest from DRG Records. Loverman is described as 'a brilliant departure from Ms. Cook's traditional Broadway repertoire, featuring instead a large collection of jazz and standards.' In addition to the release of Loverman, on October 18th Ms. Cook will perform a concert at Carnegie Hall in celebration her 85th birthday.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced the two final productions of its 2012-2013 season.

Court Theatre Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert present James Joyce's "The Dead," book by Richard Nelson, music by Shaun Davey, lyrics conceived and adapted by Richard Nelson and Shaun Davey, and directed by Charles Newell with musical direction by Doug Peck. Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures in association with Unique Features announced today that the hit musical ELF will star Tony® Award winner Beth Leavel (Emily), Tony® Award nominee Mark Jacoby (Walter), Valerie Wright (Deb), Adam Heller (Mr. Greenway) and Michael Mandell (Store Manager). Leavel, Jacoby, Wright and Mandell are reprising the roles they originated in the 2010 production of ELF. Additional casting will be announced soon.

The Dallas Opera has announced the homecoming of renowned soprano Laura Claycomb, the Dallas Opera's 2011 "Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year", will perform in recital on Sunday, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the DMA's Horchow Auditorium, accompanied by Grammy™ nominated collaborator and accompanist Keith Weber.

The Music Institute of Chicago presents the Barkada Quartet, winner of the coveted 2012 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Grand Prize and the Senior Wind Division Gold Medal. Blumenthal Performing Arts is opening McGlohon Theater in response to the change of venue for tonight's DNC event from Bank of America Stadium to Time Warner Cable Arena. The much smaller arena will not be able to accommodate many people who had planned to attend the event at the stadium.

Showcasing its dedication to presenting and supporting the work of international artists, Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) invites Sunhwa Chung/Ko-Ryo Dance Theater to join the DNA PRESENTS family, October 17-20. Arirang - We Go Beyond the Crossroad, choreographed and directed by Sunhwa Chung, blends traditional Korean dance with contemporary Western forms. The program features live music, composed and performed by Korean Traditional Drummer Vonggu Pak, with accompaniment by violinist Sarang West. The 90-minute performances begin at 7:30 p.m. each night with an additional matinee on October 20 at 3:00 p.m.
