It is with great sadness that The Philadelphia Orchestra mourns the death of Wolfgang Sawallisch, conductor laureate of the Orchestra and its music director from 1993 to 2003. Mr. Sawallisch passed away on Friday at his home in Grassau, upper Bavaria, Germany. He was 89 years old. In a special tribute and dedication to him, the Orchestra performed Wagner's Siegfried Idyll to open its Sunday afternoon concert.

This musical expedition had its first reading in 2011 as part of Village Theatre's Festival of New Musicals; now, Village Theatre is preparing for a full scale production. The three TRAILS creators, Christy Hall (book), Jordan Mann (lyrics), Jeff Thomson (music), are all in town to work with local director Eric Ankrim and the talented NW-based cast and crew.

The script is based on the short story classic about a man who encounters the ghosts of Captain Henry Hudson and his crew in the hills of Sleepy Hollow, written by Washington Irving over one-hundred years ago. One of ELTC's upcoming summer mainstage productions is the world premiere of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' adapted by James Rana from another Irving tale.
