In the inaugural Storefront Playwright Project, the League of Chicago Theatres will provide window space at Expo 72 for emerging and established playwrights to work on a current writing project in view of the public in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. From a large screen in a window facing the sidewalk, the public will be able to read what the playwright is writing and watch the creation of the next great Chicago play in real time. The Storefront Playwright Project will take place at Expo72 located at 72 E. Randolph St. in downtown Chicago, December 4 - 22, 2012, Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Signature Theatre has announced a second one-week extension for THE PIANO LESSON by August Wilson and directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. The production, originally scheduled to conclude its run on December 9 and already extended once through December 16, will now play through Sunday, December 23. The production opened on Sunday, November 18 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues) to unanimous critical praise. Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

The Brooklyn Museum has announced the selection of five Brooklyn artists whose work will be featured in GO: a community-curated open studio project. The exhibition will open on December 1, 2012, at the Museum's Target First Saturday evening of free art and entertainment, and will be on view through February 24, 2013. The artists selected are Adrian Coleman, Oliver Jeffers, Naomi Safran-Hon, Gabrielle Watson, and Yeon Ji Yoo.

Matt Doyle will play a concert at NYC's Rockwood Music Hall on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 7:30pm. The show will feature a set of original songs co-written by Doyle and composer Will Van Dyke from his two EPs "Daylight" and "Constant." A staged reading of They Promised Her the Moon will be presented Monday, December 3rd at 4pm, directed by Valentina Fratti. They Promised Her the Moon is based on the true story of Geraldyn 'Jerrie' Cobb, the first woman to be tested for space flight. Along with twelve other women, Cobb went through the rigors of physical and mental testing only to be told that women would not be considered for NASA's astronaut training program.
