Matisse: In Search of True Painting explores Henri Matisse's painting process by showcasing 49 vibrantly colored canvases that demonstrate the artist's tendency to use his completed canvases as tools, repeating compositions in order to compare effects, gauge his progress, and, as he put it, "push further and deeper into true painting." (December 4, 2012-March 17, 2013).
The inaugural season of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival was a success, according to Festival organizers. The Festival, held in Auburn, N.Y., included nine musicals and played a significant role in shaping 20 new musicals during the 2012 season. Downtown Auburn also saw a boost in activity as patrons visited restaurants and spent time in the city.

Peter Marshall, the five-time Emmy Award-winning host of The Hollywood Squares, who interrupted a career on Broadway to heed the call of Hollywood, returns to his showbusiness roots in a six-show major engagement at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, in January. The January 11 to 14 run marks the entertainer's first club dates in New York since he appeared with his comedy-variety partner Tommy Noonan in the late 1950's.

The Boston College Theatre Department will present a one-night festival --Puppetology: An Evening of Uncommon Theater--in conjunction with the department's Rev. J. Donald Monan, S.J. Kyle Manzay are joining to play the roles of Scag and The Great MacDaddy in the first major revival in 35 years of the Obie award-winning play THE GREAT MACDADDY. Award-winning director Alfred Preisser helms the production, which opens November 29th at 8:00 PM. The Great MacDaddy is the first production at the new 777 Theater in the Broadway theatre district, at 777 Eighth Avenue in New York City. Further casting will be announced at a later date.
The Group Theatre Too (GTT), in association with Paul Michael's The Network, NYC, will present a star-studded benefit performance, Broadway at the Met Room, at New York's premier cabaret venue, The Metropolitan Room, on Sunday, December 2nd at 7pm. The performance is raising funds for GTT's Broadway Performance Project and will unveil the "Nicole Fosse Scholarship". Created by Kimberly Vaughn, The Broadway Performance Project is dedicated to discovering and nurturing new talent. This mini-conservatory trains the student to achieve Broadway caliber performance which is further shaped by industry professionals in prep for a two-evening performance at a top NY cabaret venue. Early this Fall GTT board member, Nicole Fosse agreed to create a scholarship in her name giving more opportunities for performers to take part in the 2013 season of Broadway Performance Project.
