The Wetumpka Depot Players are wrapping up their 32nd season with the world premiere of Pamela Parker's play A Very Second Samuel Christmas. The occasion will be a Christmas miracle of sorts as Parker resisted writing a Second Samuel sequel for many years. "People have asked me to write a Christmas play featuring the characters of Second Samuel, but I told them it would never happen. Then the folks at the Wetumpka Depot asked. Who could say no to them?" said Parker referring to the Wetumpka troupe who traveled Second Samuel to a nationwide theatre festival in 2011.

The Theatre Program at Columbia University School of the Arts and the Classic Stage Company (CSC) announced an agreement to make all third-year MFA students in Acting at Columbia eligible to join Actors Equity Association (AEA). In addition, two MFA students in Stage Management each year will be eligible to join. This agreement makes The Oscar Hammerstein II Center for Theatre Studies at Columbia the first in New York to offer this invaluable bridge to the field.

The Fountain Theatre has extended the Los Angeles premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's lusciously theatrical and boldly original In the Red and Brown Water through the end of February, in honor of Black History Month. The Joffrey Academy of Dance Announces Third Annual Choreographers of Color Award Recipients

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, has announced the winners of the Third Annual Choreographers of Color Award: Ma Cong, William McClellan and Jeremy McQueen. This announcement follows a national call for artists to submit applications, which began in August. Rounding out the artistic talent on this year's program is fashion designer LaQuan Smith who will conceptualize and design the costumes for McQueen's piece. The Choreographers of Color Award was created to recognize promising young minority choreographers whose diverse perspective will ignite creativity in the field of dance. Each of the three selected choreographers will be given a minimum of 30 rehearsal hours to set a new work on the Joffrey Academy Trainees. Each winning choreographer will also receive a $2,500 stipend and an opportunity to work directly with Joffrey Academy Artistic Directors, Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik. The three World Premieres will be presented in Choreographers of Color Award 2013: Winning Works at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, in one performance only, Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 4 pm.

Selections from Cornish's Mary Alice Cooley Collection are currently featured in downtown Seattle, near the Seattle Art Museum. Equity Residential has graciously offered the use of several empty storefront windows to display artwork by Cornish students and alumni. 20 prints are currently on display on Western Avenue, between University and Seneca Streets (near the Harbor Steps). The Cooley Collection prints will be featured through January 2013.
