Singer Frank Dain, also known to the New York community as the Editor of Cabaret Scenes Magazine, will reprise The Magic of Mathis at Don't Tell Mama, Saturdays Dec. 8th and 15th at 6pm. The Magic of Mathis brings fresh interpretations to such Johnny Mathis signature tunes as "Chances Are," "It's Not for Me to Say," "Wild Is the Wind," "Misty" and "The Twelfth of Never. " Contributing creative arrangements is Dain's frequent collaborator, Musical Director Kathleen Landis, a popular pianist who is missed by many people at the Cafe Pierre, where she entertained audiences for years. The Magic of Mathis will also include some more obscure songs, as well, such as "99 Miles from L.A.," "Yellow Roses on Her Gown," "I'll Be Easy to Find" and "Photograph," all part of Mathis's remarkable 56-year career. The show, which ran very successfully at Metropolitan Room in September, has been directed by the Multi-award winning director/entertainer, Lennie Watts.

Sundance Institute announced today the program of short films selected to screen at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. The 2013 Short Film program is comprised of 65 short films selected from a record 8,102 submissions (427 more than for the 2012 Festival).

The Imaginary Theatre Company, the young audiences touring ensemble of The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, will present the premiere of a new children's musical, A Gnome for Christmas, this holiday season. Adapted by playwright Sarah Brandt and composer Stephen James Neale, this 45-minute performance, suitable for all ages, is a musical that reminds us of the importance of helping others and the happiness found in friends.

Shakespeare on the Sound will form its fifth annual Apprentice Company in 2013 to give theater students and developing artists the opportunity to work with some of the country's leading theater artists on our summer production and beyond. Apprenticeship's will cover all aspects of professional theatre in both artistic and technical theater arts. This hands on apprentice program will provide a deeply meaningful and educational opportunity for growth and development to selected high school and college students with a demonstrated interest in theater and will give them direct access to national leaders in the field. All apprentices will create their own work and a few will have the opportunity to be featured in the main stage show.

Choreographers Brian Brooks, Beth Gill and Pontus Lidberg have been awarded New York City Center's 2012-13 Choreography Fellowships. The Fellowship program was launched in conjunction with the theater's reopening season in 2011-12 with a mission to support choreographers at critical stages in their careers. In the final appearance of Chaplin's iconic Little Tramp (the character that brought him world fame), the incomparable actor-director created a comedy about man's struggle to survive in the industrialized world during the Great Depression. William Eddins conducts the Orchestra. Performing with the Orchestra in the roles of singing waiters will be Brent Chamberlin, Jason Levy, Rohan Mandelia, and Matthew Rizer.

Cirque du Soleil returns to Calgary with its latest big top production Amaluna which premieres on April 11, 2013 for a limited engagement under the blue-and-yellow Big Top at Stampede Park (Lot #6). Directed by Diane Paulus, a renowned theatre director from New York, Amaluna had its world-premiere in Montreal in April 2012 and is now touring North America.
