The Martha Graham Dance Company Announces Joyce Theater Season, 2/20-3/3January 4, 2013The Martha Graham Dance Company (Janet Eilber, Artistic Director; LaRue Allen, Executive Director) will present 15 performances at The Joyce Theater, February 20-March 3, 2013. The season continues the company's innovative thematic presentations with Myth and Transformation-three compelling programs that explore how artists reinvent iconic stories to make bold contemporary statements. The two-week season features Graham masterworks including Phaedra, Cave of the Heart, Night Journey, Errand into the Maze, and Diversion of Angels alongside new commissions and premieres from Richard Move, Luca Veggetti, and Doug Varone. A reconstruction of a Graham solo, Imperial Gesture (1935), will also be presented. Performances will take place Wednesday, February 20 to Sunday, February 24; and Tuesday, February 26 to Sunday, March 3.
Dallas Theater Center Launches Come Early Pre-Show Lectures, Beginning 1/18January 4, 2013Dallas Theater Center announced today that it will launch a new, free pre-show lecture program, Come Early, sponsored by Wells Fargo, with the first performance of King Lear on January 18. Come Early is an informative 30-minute lecture that will be offered before every performance of every play at DTC. It is designed to enhance the audience's theater-going experience and is a companion program to DTC's existing Dr. Pepper Snapple Stay Late post-show audience talk back series.

East Lynne Theater Company Receives Grant from Travel and TourismJanuary 4, 2013The Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company is receiving $14,400.00 from the Cooperative Marketing Grant sponsored by the New Jersey Department of State: Division of Travel and Tourism. The award was given based on the scores of an independent evaluation and funding review committee that studied ELTC's application and marketing plan. This is the sixth year in a row that ELTC has received this prestigious grant, and it will be used solely for advertising.

BENNY GOODMAN REINVENTED Concert Comes to Blue Note, 1/15-20January 4, 2013On January 16, 1938, the Benny Goodman Orchestra set a new precedent for jazz performances by performing at Carnegie Hall. Up until then, jazz was traditionally heard in clubs. Furthermore, the concert broke new ground for racial equality by being one of the first such presentations in a "highbrow" concert hall to feature a racially integrated band. From January 15th to January 20th, the Blue Note will bring the world of jazz orchestras back to the club with the music of Benny Goodman's immortal Carnegie Hall Concert.
Maritz and the Arts and Education Council Announce $30,000 in GrantsJanuary 4, 2013Maritz, in collaboration with the Arts and Education Council, announced today that it has awarded $30,000 in grants ranging from $1,400 - $5,000 each to nine arts education projects in the St. Louis bi-state area through the Maritz Arts and Education Fund for Teachers. Maritz and the Arts and Education Council partner to offer this unique funding opportunity to individual schools and non-profit organizations to support projects and opportunities that encourage creativity in the classroom; the grants are administered by the Arts and Education Council and supported by Maritz. The unique funding program enables teachers to apply directly for a grant. Awards are granted at the beginning of the school year.
