OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2013 National Opera Trustee Recognition Award. In its sixth year, this award honors outstanding trustees of U.S. opera companies for exemplary leadership, generosity and audience-building efforts on behalf of their respective opera companies.

Ludovic Morlot, music director of the Seattle Symphony, returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall on Thursday, January 24, at 8:00PM, Friday, January 25, at 11:00AM and Saturday, January 26, at 8:00 PM to conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Beethoven's 5th Symphony. The program also features pianist Emanuel Ax performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25, K. 503.

Open Stage of Harrisburg Executive Artistic Director Donald Alsedek directs another installment of August Wilson's acclaimed Century Cycle of plays exploring the Black experience in America Following at the intimate Angino Family Theatre. Following last year's triumph with MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM, Alsedek takes on August Wilson's African-American epic, JOE TURNER'S COME AND GONE. The production opens February 1 and closes February 23. Evening performances Thursday to Saturdays are at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm.

The Motherf***er with the Hat - The original Broadway cast, including Chris Rock; Tony nominees Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Yul Vazquez; and Annabella Sciorra, reunites when L.A. Theatre Works presents Stephen Adly Guirgis' high-octane, Tony-nominated, verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery. Jackie and Veronica have been in love since the eighth grade. Nothing can come between them-except a hat. All performances will be recorded, without sets or costumes, to air on L.A. Theatre Works' syndicated radio theater series, which broadcasts weekly on public radio stations nationwide and can be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

The Warner Stage Company presents the Tony Award winning comedy musical mystery CURTAINS, January 26 - February 3 at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.

Religion and science collide in playwright Catherine Trieschmann's How the World Began, a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs - and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world. Looking to rebuild her fractured life, high school biology teacher Susan relocates from New York City to a small Kansas town reeling in the aftermath of a devastating tornado. Ready for more than a little culture shock, Susan finds herself unprepared for the firestorm that engulfs the town after she makes an off-hand comment about the origin of the universe. Rep Associate Artistic Director Brent Hazelton, who directed last season's Stackner Cabaret production Song Man Dance Man and wrote and who directed the smash-hit Liberace! the previous season, will direct the play. The production features Rep Associate Artist Deborah Staples and as well as features Ben Charles and Marty Lodge, both making their Rep debuts. How the World Began runs in the Stiemke Studio from January 16 - February 24, and opens on Friday, January 18.

In honor of comedy legend Carl Reiner's 75 years in the business, Center Theatre Group is presenting a staged reading of "Enter Laughing, The Musical," which is inspired by Reiner's experiences as a young man struggling to break into theatre in New York. The one night only event directed by Stuart Ross ("Forever Plaid"), Mark Taper Forum on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. is already sold out.

The past year has taken the Steep Canyon Rangers to new heights. In March 2011, the band released its first collaborative record with Steve Martin, "Rare Bird Alert" which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Chart and at #43 on the Billboard Top 200. In 2010, the latest solo record from Steep Canyon Rangers, "Deep In The Shade", remained in the Bluegrass Top 10 on Billboard for 18 weeks.

The Music Theatre Company (TMTC), Highland Park's Equity theatre, 1850 Green Bay Road, completes its 2012-2013 Musicals in Concert Series with its final production in the series, The Baker's Wife, directed by Dominic Missimi with music direction by Matt Deitchman. The Baker's Wife runs Friday, Feb. 1 - Sunday, Feb. 10 and performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for $35.
