Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that Martha Clarke and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins have joined the Residency Five program, which provides five-year residencies for multiple playwrights, guaranteeing three full productions of new work over the course of each playwright's residency. The other artists currently in the Residency Five program are Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan, and Regina Taylor.

Primary Stages presents Solo Train: An Evening of Solo Performers by emerging artists guided by renowned actress and Emmy Award-winning writer Judy Gold (The Judy Show: My Life as a Sitcom, "The Rosie O'Donnell Show"), Thursday, January 24 at 7PM and 9PM at the Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street). Inspired by stories from his or her own life, each writer/performer has honed their performance to its most essential elements during the past semester at ESPA. Some stories are hilarious. Some stories are moving. Each story is bracingly fresh.

Adapted from Ayn Rand's dystopian novella of the same name, Random Access Theatre presents Anthem at the Abingdon Theater in New York City. Under the direction of Jennifer Sandella, five actors embody a nightmare of complicit collectivism where individual identity is a death sentence. However as two inhabitants of the soulless city fall in love, they will have to risk their lives to stay together.

As part of the programming for the Kitchen Theatre's upcoming production of Matthew Lopez's play The Whipping Man, there will be a free talk by Ross Brann, Cornell University's Milton R. Konvitz Professor of Judeo-Islamic Studies. Brann will speak on Jewish immigration to the U.S. in the 19th century and Jewish involvement in the American Civil War in the South and the North at the Kitchen Theatre Company tonight, January 17th at 7:30pm.

Writers' Theatre announces the 7th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Jimmy McDermott and featuring Caren Blackmore. The production opens with a free public performance at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 North Clark St. in Chicago, on the Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday, January 21, 2013 at 12 p.m.

DC's remarkable jazz vocalist Sharon Clark is adding a performance to the reprise engagement of her daring new show, "Blame it on My Youth," running at the Metropolitan Room from January 22 to February 2. The added date is on Monday January 28 at 9:30pm. This five-night run marks her fourth appearance at the Metropolitan Room, where she is clearly on the brink of something big.

America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain will celebrate its 84th Anniversary Season starting June 16th, with a 12-week schedule featuring seventeen Chamber Music concerts, a twilight series of Jazz, Big Band and Country Music concerts, a unique evening devoted to Gilbert & Sullivan and the first ever Folk Music Jamboree. '2013 is going to be another great year at Music Mountain," stated Music Mountain's board president Nicholas Gordon. "The season opens with the extraordinary cellist Matt Haimowitz in a sonata program [and] continues with wonderful quartets and impressive assisting artists. Our theme this year is 'Seldom Played Works by Celebrated Composers'; an example of this is the Bartok Piano Quintet (July 14), which has never been performed before at Music Mountain and the Dohnanyi Piano Quintet # 2 in E Flat Major (August 10), last played here in 1941."

Pumpkin Theatre continues our 45th Anniversary Season, "A Celebration of Imagination" with Quest of the ZIZ Bird. A NEW PLAY with book and lyrics by Pumpkin Theatre Producing Artistic Director, Jimi Kinstle and music by Ryan Michael Haase (Artistic Director, Stillpointe Theatre Initiative) based on the children's book The Hardest Word, by Jacqueline Jules. Quest of the Ziz Bird has been adapted to the stage by Pumpkin Theatre in collaboration with the Louise D & Morton J Macks Center for Jewish Education (CJE) (www.cjebaltimore.org) and the PJ Library as part of an outreach project for both organizations.

Blue Balloon Productions is proud to present a production workshop presentation of R-E-B-E-C-C-A, written and performed by Sara Farb. This unique solo piece is based on her sister who was born seven weeks prematurely in the month of May, and was diagnosed as mentally retarded at a very young age. The story centres on this real-life Rebecca, as well as on an alternate Rebecca - the one that might have been, had she been born in July - as they celebrate their respective 18th birthdays. These two Rebeccas, although universes apart, ultimately manage to find a connection and unite in a strange and powerful way.

The 2013 North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival continues with a weekend of top notch sketch comedy. The sketch portion of the festival runs Thursday, February 7-Sunday, February 10. The sketch line-up features acts from all over the country and is highlighted by an appearance from the Second City Touring Company and an evening with Kevin Allison's RISK!, a live storytelling event. On Thursday, February 7 at noon, the Arvada Center opens the children's theater production No Dogs Allowed, written by Sonia Manzano ('Maria' from Sesame Street), music by Stephan Lawrence, lyrics by Billy Aronson and directed by Edith Weiss. The show will run February 7 - April 12, 2013. INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) today announced the two plays for its Winter/Spring 2013 season: Lucy Loves Me, written by Migdalia Cruz, directed by Lou Moreno, and Pinkolandia written by Andrea Thome, directed by Jose Zayas. Lucy Loves Me will begin performances Off-Broadway Friday February 22nd continuing through March 24th. Pinkolandia begins performances Friday, May 3rd and will continue through May 26th. Both Lucy Loves Me and Pinkoldandia are products of INTAR's legendary Maria Irene Fornés Hispanic Playwrights-in-Residence Laboratory (MIF HPRL).

As part of the CSO's Concerts for Kids series, "Jungle George" Albert-George Schram and the Columbus Symphony will perform "Jungle Music," a delightful, hour-long musical safari with roaring brass, chattering woodwinds, swinging strings, and stampeding percussion on February 24.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of the newest play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet: The Anarchist. Just having completed its world premiere on Broadway under the direction of the playwright and starring Patti LuPone and Debra Winger, Mr. Mamet's work is also currently represented on Broadway with the revival of his award-winning Glengarry Glen Ross starring Al Pacino and Bobby Cannavale.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre's Reefer Madness, the raucous musical comedy taking a tongue-in-cheek look at the perils of marijuana, debuts February 1-24, 2013 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre (Street Level of City Center in downtown Minneapolis). Directed by Steven Meerdink, MMT's artistic director, it is the first production in the new partnership between Hennepin Theatre Trust and Minneapolis Musical Theatre. FREUD'S LAST SESSION, New York's long-running hit play by Mark St. Germain, is set to open in Los Angeles tonight, January 16th starring Judd Hirsch as Sigmund Freud and Tom Cavanagh as C. S. Lewis under the direction of Tyler Marchant, who helmed the original New York production. Presented by The Broad Stage & Carolyn Rossi Copeland, Robert Stillman and Jack Thomas, FREUD'S LAST SESSION will play a strictly limited engagement through February 10th at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.
