Nickelodeon star and three-time NAACP Image Award winner Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP, Akeelah and the Bee,Madea's Family Reunion) has been cast in the network's brand-new original TV movie, Rags. The modern-day fairy tale, starring Palmer as Kadee Worth and Max Schneider (How to Rock) as Charlie Prince, began production in May in Vancouver. Set to premiere in 2012, Rags is a music-infused, modern twist on the classic Cinderella story set against the backdrop of New York City.

The Williamston Theatre announces that its 2012 World Premiere of the new play Dead Man's Shoes, by Joseph Zettelmaier, has just received an Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award. The play is slated to be the third production of the Williamston Theatre's 2011-2012 Season and is a co-production with the Performance Network Theatre in Ann Arbor.

This year's honorees included Matt Damon, John Leguizamo, Foursquare, Stacey Spikes, Smuggler, Lauren Zalaznick, and the first-ever 'Made in NY' Mayor's Award for Lifetime Achievement, which was awarded to Sidney Lumet and accepted on his behalf by the director's daughter, screenwriter Jenny Lumet.
