WE tv announced today that its hit Thursday night series, 'Hustle & Soul' has been renewed for a third season, coming off of a highly successful season two that grew viewership compared to the first season of the series. 'Hustle & Soul,' produced by Big Fish Entertainment, an MGM Company, set in and around the famed Pink Teacup soul food restaurant, wrapped up its second season with rare season-over-season growth, increasing its audience by 10% among adults 25-54, 9% among women 25-54 and 7% in total viewers, compared to season one. Additionally, the season two finale episode delivered series highs among women and adults 25-54 in Nielsen Live+3 ratings and made WE tv the #1 cable network among African American women 25-54 for the majority of the season two run.

HGTV has ordered a third season of its popular Sin City series, Flip or Flop Vegas. The network picked up 10 new episodes of the series, which follows Bristol Marunde, a licensed contractor and MMA fighter, and his wife Aubrey, a real estate agent and designer, as they purchase dilapidated desert homes and renovate them with dazzling Vegas style. The new season is slated to premiere in spring 2019.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse, the eighth installment of the acclaimed and award-winning limited series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, premiered as the most-watched program on television on the night of its premiere in all key adult demographics. On a Live+3 basis, the premiere telecast (Wednesday, September 12, 10 p.m.-11:03 p.m.) ranked #1 in Adults 18-49 (3.5 million), Adults 18-34 (1.8 million) and Adults 25-54 (3.4 million). In Total Viewers, the premiere telecast (5.7 million) was the most-watched basic cable program of the night and #4 overall inclusive of broadcast.

The Pennsylvania high school student, who took a cardboard cutout of DeVito to prom, appears on the show Thursday. She thinks her segment is about her prom story that made national news, but gets a big surprise when DeVito enters the stage to meet her in person. “I think this was my first prom and thank you very much for inviting me,” DeVito tells Closs. Sharon Osbourne asks her, “What is it like to meet the real Danny DeVito?” Closs replies, “Amazing, fantastic! I never expected…as a little joke, taking a little cardboard cut out to prom, that it would lead to this!”

In the ensuing months, the two priests forge a bond across the Atlantic through a series of letters sharing experiences of trauma and recovery. Father Basil recalls his own town's efforts to launch the “Snowdrop” campaign that brought about radical gun policy reform in the UK, whereas the US has had no federal reform to date. There have been over 1600 mass shootings since December 2012 in the US. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Father Basil journeys across the Atlantic to bring solace to Father Bob and the community of Newtown.

Leonard Bernstein: The Power of Music closed on Sunday, September 2, at the National Museum of American Jewish History. The first large-scale exhibition to document Bernstein's life, work, Jewish identity, and social activism, containing approximately 100 historic artifacts, will begin its national tour at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, opening October 4 and on view through November 18, 2018. Next year, the exhibition will be on view at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Beachwood, OH, beginning September 22, 2019 through February 22, 2020.

Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar is a startling and soaring new version of David Bowie's entire last album Blackstar for solo cello and orchestra. Arranged for Beiser by Ziporyn, who will also conduct Ambient Orchestra, Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar has been performed to capacity audiences in Boston, Barcelona, and New York City's Central Park SummerStage.
