Alison Luff is set to star opposite Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig in the new Starz drama Heels, according to Deadline.

Leslie Odom, Jr. is set to play singer Sam Cooke in Regina King's directorial debut One Night In Miami, according to Deadline. The film also stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as civil rights activist Malcolm X, Eli Goree as Cassius Clay right before he became Muhammad Ali, Aldis Hodge   as gridiron great Jim Brown. 

Television's biggest guessing game returns right after the biggest football game, and superstar Jamie Foxx, host and executive producer of BEAT SHAZAM, will be there to play along, as he joins host Nick Cannon and panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke in the Season Three premiere of THE MASKED SINGER airing Sunday, Feb. 2 (10:30-11:40 PM ET/7:30-8:40 PM PT live to all time zones) on FOX, following SUPER BOWL LIV. THE MASKED SINGER will then make its time period premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

New competition series LEGO(R) MASTERS has announced celebrity guests, including Mayim Bialik, Terry Crews, Nicole Byer and 'The LEGO Movie' writers and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. FOX Entertainment has ordered a stop-motion holiday special from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the Emmy Award-winning company founded by Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich and Eric Towner. The all-new, irreverent special, written by Emmy Award winner Tom Root ('Robot Chicken'), will premiere next winter on FOX, as part of its 'Not So Silent Nights' holiday-themed programming.

The Poison Squad, based on the acclaimed book by Deborah Blum, tells the story of a little known government chemist named Dr. Harvey Wiley, who, determined to banish these dangerous substances from the American diet, took on the powerful food manufacturers and their allies in government. To demonstrate the peril lurking in these ubiquitous chemicals — from copper sulfate to borax to formaldehyde — Wiley embarked upon a series of bold and controversial trials on human subjects — a dozen brave young men who would become known as the “Poison Squad.” Following Wiley's unusual experiments and tireless crusade for food safety, the film charts the path of the forgotten man whose work would become the basis for our consumer protection laws, and ultimately the creation of the FDA. The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors announced today the recipients of two of their most prominent awards - Hollywood Legacy Award and Industry Renaissance Award - which each honor outstanding accomplishments in film and television. Ugly Runner is a 3-piece rock 'n' roll outfit from Asheville, North Carolina. As broad as the spectrum of rock 'n' roll itself, so are the influences of Ugly Runner, which range from California Punk to British Rhythm & Blues. Aiming to create timeless rock 'n' roll that dances on the edge of psychedelia, and invokes nostalgia from the first listen, the band entered the studio in May 2019 to record their debut EP, “Romanticizer,” at Sedgwick Studios in Flat Rock, NC. Working with engineer, Peter Brownlee, they tracked the 6-song EP and spent the remainder of the summer playing shows and preparing for the release of their debut EP. Ugly Runner's “Romanticizer” will be released on Cleopatra Records on January 2nd. 

Sy Somebody is back and has teamed up with Maceo Vidal-Haymes of the O'My's for new single, Idle Minds, ahead of his forthcoming album. Frontman Casey Meehan says the song, “details the mistakes of a young man, paralleled by the mistakes of a society soaked in boredom”. Despite the thematic focus on boredom the song is uptempo with a danceable finish while still retaining the power chords and rock footing that was established through breakout singles, “Take The Money '' and “Zookeeper”. Three songs in, Sy Somebody is finding definition as a multifaceted project influenced by countless sources but with a clear sound and opinion. Freshman album Life Is Cruel, Let's Be Friends…  was created alongside the band of Father John Misty with an all star lineup of musicians and collaborators. It's set to be released on January 31 with a show in Chicago to follow.

Today, NYC-based project youbet release “Volcano,” the final single from their debut Compare & Despair, out January 31st. The most dynamic and lush offering from the record, it's full of warbling guitars, synths, drum machines and samples, as songwriter Nick Llobet croons “Blame it on me, you're a volcano / contact with you, is it everything that I want to assume?”

Los Angeles/Brooklyn based vocalist, composer, and recording artist Sondra Sun-Odeon has announced a winter tour in support of her sophomore album Desyre out now via Graveface Records (order). The album features Mary Lattimore, Thor Harris (SWANS), Lia Simone Braswell (A Place to Bury Strangers) and J.R. Bohannon. The upcoming tour will include shows in Washington, D.C., Brooklyn, San Francisco and more. Additional West Coast tour dates will be announced shortly.
