Said Lennix, who most famously performed in Taymor's 1999 film, Titus, in an open letter in the Huffington Post today: 'The fault couldn't possibly lie with an untested Broadway producer, or the two all but absent rock star composers whose notoriety is derived from a completely different medium...Rather, [critics] are eager to blame the female director whose last Broadway endeavor resulted in nothing short of a transformational experience for audiences around the globe.'

ROCK OF AGES Finds New 'Drew:' Diego González Boneta Joins FilmApril 4, 2011New York Magazine has announced that after an extensive open casting process, Diego González Boneta has been selected as Drew for the ROCK OF AGES film. The part was originated on Broadway by American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis. Earlier today, reports circluated that Katy Perry may also join the flick as a stripper, alongside Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige and, reportedly, her husband Russell Brand. Variety has confirmed the news.

The concerts will also be filmed for future broadcast on PBS.

MATILDA to Make West End Transfer This FallApril 1, 2011The producers of the Royal Shakespeare Company's MATILDA have announced that, as suspected, the show will be making a West End transfer this fall. Details are scarce at the moment, but as Broadwayworld reported back in January, Broadway producers including Barry Weissler, Stuart Thompson, Sonia Friedman and others all flocked to see the show when it played the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from November through January this winter. Venue specifics and dates have yet to be announced, however, patrons can see tickets on sale as early as May.
