Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, the first New York City Center Encores! production of the season, opens tonight, February 8 at New York City Center, and features Colin Donnell, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Elizabeth Stanley, Betsy Wolfe and Adam Grupper. Merrily We Roll Along, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, is directed by James Lapine with music direction by Rob Berman and musical staging by Dan Knechtges. Merrily has been extended for a two-week run and will play for 15 performances, February 8-19, 2012. Check out performance highlights from the production below!

Today, February 8, Lincoln Center filmed the matinee performance of SISTER ACT for their famed archives. The show will now be preserved amongst the Broadway classics at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center Plaza.

Classic Stage Company has announced complete casting for their upcoming production of Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, which begins previews at CSC on Wednesday, April 4 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 20. Joining two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth (Hippolyta/Titania) and acclaimed film/television/stage star Christina Ricci (Hermia) in the cast are Jordan Dean (Demetrius), Nick Gehlfuss (Lysander), David Greenspan (Flute/Fairy), Halley Wegryn Gross (Helena), Anthony Heald (Theseus/Oberon), Erin Hill (Starveling/Fairy), Chad Lindsey (Snout/Fairy), Taylor Mac (Egeus/Puck), James Patrick Nelson (Snug/Fairy), Steven Skybell (Bottom) and Rob Yang (Quince/Fairy). Directed by Tony Speciale (Unnatural Acts), A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM has its official opening Sunday, April 29.

The newly reworked and fully re-imagined production of Carrie, the musical, had its first preview on January 31, 2012 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The show will open officially on March 1, 2012. The first production shots have been released and BroadwayWorld brings you a first look below!

Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook has returned to the Allen Room for its fourteenth season celebrating the diversity of American popular song. For 16 nights the series is exploring the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting. As BroadwayWorld reported back in 2010, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep have been in talks to star in the film adaptation of Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play, August: Osage County. Producers at the Weinstein Company, which is developing the project alongside the show's producer Jean Dourmanian, had been hopeful to begin filming in the summer of 2011, however the project was sidelined for what was believed to be scheduling conflicts. Not much has been mentioned on its progress since.

Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Damian Arnold, has announced casting for the Broadway premiere of Marc Camoletti's classic farce Don't Dress For Dinner, starring Ben Daniels as "Robert," Melora Hardin as "Jacqueline," Adam James as "Bernard" and Jennifer Tilly as "Suzanne" with Spencer Kayden as "Suzette." Don't Dress For Dinner is adapted by Robin Hawdon and directed by John Tillinger.

The Tony Award® winning production of Bette Midler's hit musical PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT will welcome new principals Adam LeFevre as "Bob" and Julie Reiber as "Marion" to the Palace Theatre when they begin performances on Monday, February 6, 2012.

Glenn Weiss and the directing team of the 65th Annual Tony Awards, have been honored with a Directors Guild award in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety. This is Mr. Weiss' eighth DGA nomination and third win. He won the Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety in 2010 for the 64th Annual Tony Awards and in 2007 for The 61st Annual Tony Awards; and was previously nominated in this category in, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2002 and 2001 for the 62nd, 60th, 59th, 56th and 55th Annual Tony Awards.

Merrily has been extended for a two-week run and will play for 15 performances, February 8-19, 2012, at New York City Center 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
