The New York Times is reporting that Producer Ken Davenport (Oleanna, 13, Altar Boyz, Awesome 80s Prom) is behind a new stage revival of Aaron Sorkin's A Few Good Men. He, alongside director David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?) are in the process of seeking out a lead to star as Lt. Daniel Kaffee in the production in a 2010-2011 revival on Broadway. This production will be the first revival since 1991, when it played the Music Box Theatre. Tom Hulce originated the role on stage in 1989. Tom Cruise famously took the role to the silver screen in 1991.

Nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards® will be announced on Tuesday, February 2, by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and Oscar-nominated actress and Academy member Anne Hathaway.

The New School for Drama has announced that the award-winning director Doug Hughes will be teaching this spring semester. Working with professionals, like Hughes in the New York theater world is a cornerstone of Drama students' experience at The New School. In the intimate setting of the classroom, Hughes will be teaching Directing Chekov and Beckett to second-year students earning an MFA in directing.

Dick Van Dyke delighted theatergoers when he made a surprise cameo in the LA engagement of the MARY POPPINS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR on January 22. Van Dyke, 84, reprised his smaller film role, that of the crotchety bank president Mr. Dawes, in front of an ecstatic, sold out house at the Ahmanson Theater as part of a charity fundraiser.

The Joyce Foundation has announced the 2010 Joyce Awards winners in the Midwest cities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis/Saint Paul. Since 2003, the Joyce Awards program has been the only granting opportunity exclusively supporting artists of color in major Midwestern cities. Joyce is awarding five outstanding arts organizations grants of $50,000 each to support new works in dance, music, theater, and visual arts.

Weekend Movie Box Office Update: January 22 - January 24, 2010

Tony Award nominee Brian Stokes Mitchell will join the cast of ABC's 'Ugly Betty' for a guest starring role as Vanessa Williams' ex in an upcoming episode, TVGuide.com is reporting. Mitchell will play the role of Don, a simply guy who is the antithesis of Wilhelmina. It is reported that Mitchell's role may be recurring. The episode will air sometime in March.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre will host an evening of romantic music on the eve of Valentine's Day as it presents 'Duets: An Evening of Romantic Broadway Duets' 7 p.m. (reception/silent auction) and 8 p.m. (performance), Saturday, Feb. 13, in the B Building Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

GLEE's Jane Lynch will wed her longtime girlfriend, Dr. Lara Embry, according to published reports. Embry is a psychologist who made news last year for her involvement in a custody case with a former partner that made headlines in Florida. For her role in the case, Embry received a Justice Award from the NCLR. Lynch tells the New York Times that the wedding will take place in May.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2009. The 41st Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 22 at the Colony Theatre, thanks to the generous donation of the Colony's management. The theatre is located at 555 N. Third Street, in Burbank.

Live Nation, Inc. ('Live Nation') and Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. ('Ticketmaster') today announced that they have reached agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and with the Canadian Commissioner of Competition, clearing the way for the merger of the companies. Upon closing, the company will be renamed Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. to reflect the combination of Live Nation's concert promotions expertise with Ticketmaster's world-class ticketing solutions and artist relationships.

According to a press statement today, Boomers: Promises Made, Not Kept, an original musical, has sights set on Broadway for the 2012 season.

Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (The Center) will present BROADWAY BACKWARDS 5, a one night only event, on Monday, February 22 at 8 PM at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center. BROADWAY BACKWARDS 5 is produced by BC/EFA and will benefit BC/EFA and The Center.

The stars of Broadway's ROCK OF AGES have banded together to raise funds for World Vision, a humanitarian fund that has been in Haiti for 30 years in an effort to contribute to the country's relief. Stars Kerry Butler, Lauren Molina and James Carpinello introduce the fundraiser in the video below. The production will be auctioning off items, the first of which is a backstage tour with Butler. As previously reported, GLEE returns to FOX on April 13 at 9pm on Tuesdays, and while the show will be off the air for the summer, the GLEE cast is going live on tour by June. Today, the first tour cities have been revealed! According to gleefan.com, 'The cities that have been 100% confirmed are: Orlando, New York, LA, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, and Portland.'

Million Dollar Quartet has announces its new Chicago cast: Emmy Award-winning actor David Lago (Elvis Presley), accomplished musician/performer Lance Lipinsky (Jerry Lee Lewis), Chicago musician and actor Gabe Bowling (Carl Perkins), and Jeff Award nominee Sean Sullivan (Johnny Cash). The cast also includes Tim Decker ('Father of Rock 'n' Roll' Sam Phillips) and original Chicago cast members Kelly Lamont (Elvis' girlfriend Dyanne), Billy Shaffer (Fluke/Drummer) and Chuck Zayas (Jay Perkins/Bass). The new cast will begin performances on February 3, 2010.
