As previously reported, Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will lead the cast of The Kid for The New Group. Based on the book by Dan Savage entitled The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant, the new musical The Kid features music by Andy Monroe, book by Michael Zam and lyrics by Jack Lechner. Today it has been announced that the first preview has moved from April 10 to Friday, April 16. Official Opening is now Monday, May 10 at 7:00 (moved from May 6, announced previously). Final performance is May 29.

Yesterday, March 11, work on AMERICAN IDIOT was temporarily delayed when a fire broke out in the elevator shaft of the St. James Theatre. While an initial report into the FDNY indicated that someone was trapped inside the elevator, upon arrival firefighters confirmed that while the fire did indeed initiate in the elevator shaft, no one was inside. The building was evacuated and no one was harmed. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.

LOVE NEVER DIES opened 9 March in London at the Adelphi Theatre and today the official production trailer has been released! Previews began on 22 February. LOVE NEVER DIES stars Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo, and features direction by Jack O'Brien. The show is scheduled to open in New York on November 11, 2010 and in Australia in 2011.

Word is out that American musical theatre favorite Miranda Sings is on her way back to London to perform alongside some of our own home grown talents and give them some much needed Miranda-style vocal training. With eyebrows that move entirely independently of each other, a crooked smile and a face baring the remnants of a fight with the lipstick, Miranda has caused a sensation on YouTube by posting videos of herself performing her favourite songs comically off-key complete with stiff dance moves and woeful styling.

The New York Times is reporting that the producers of Broadway's GOD OF CARNAGE have opted not to pursue a National Tour at the moment, fearing that a tour would not run long enough to make the endeavor financially beneficial. Producers, who had been doing the initial legwork for a tour for several months and had even gotten some commitments from actors, anticipate that a tour would need to run at least 26 weeks to recoup, and not enough theaters signed onto the tour in the 2010-2011 season to guarantee they would hit this mark.

Broadway stars Stockard Channing and Timothy Hutton will star in the new film, Multiple Sarcasms, alongside Laila Robins. Multiple Sarcasm, which features a play within the film, additionally showcases contributions by Broadway producer Milton Justice. The film opens in theaters on May 7, 2010.

PEEPSHOW, Las Vegas' hottest show and striptease spectacular, brought sexy back to The Strip on Monday, March 1. Holly Madison resumes her starring role as 'Bo Peep,' a modern woman who discovers her newfound sexuality. In the current addition of Las Vegas Magazine, Madison reveals some of the new changes featured in this latest installment of the production.

The New York Times is reporting that while Andrew Lloyd Webber and the producers of LOVE NEVER DIES are 100% committed to opening the new production at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre in November as planned, the production may be undergoing some significant changes prior to an opening. LOVE NEVER DIES premiered in London to mixed reviews, with overall commendations on the score and less than complimentary feedback on the book and lyrics.

Andrew Lippa, the composer/lyricist for the upcoming Addams Family, will be the featured guests on Seth's Broadway Chatterbox this evening, Thursday, March 11 at 6pm. Seth's Broadway Chatterbox is a one hour weekly talk show at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street), hosted by Seth Rudetsky. The show is taped in front of a live audience and airs on BroadwayWorld.com Radio Mondays at 7pm, Wednesdays at 10pm and Sundays at noon.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis will direct THE HUMAN SCALE for four performances only at Joe's Pub beginning Wednesday, March 17 at 7 PM. Written and performed by Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright, THE HUMAN SCALE will also play Saturday, March 20 at 7 PM and Sunday, March 21 at 2 PM and 7 PM.

The New York Daily News is reporting that in a surprise twist, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES star Kelsey Grammer, who had been announced to play the role of Georges, will in fact be doubling as both leads, Georges and Albin, in six month stints.

Stephen Sondheim turns 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he will celebrate this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Neil Patrick Harris will indeed be appearing on GLEE this season. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that he'll be playing a former rival of Mr. Schu (Matthew Morrison) who's come back to town to try to shut down the show choir.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Artistic Director, Lauren Schmiedel, Managing Director) will present the World Premiere of the musical Langston in Harlem, featuring a book by Langston Hughes, Walter Marks and Kent Gash, with music by Walter Marks, lyrics by Langston Hughes and directed by Kent Gash, with musical direction by Barry Levitt and choreography by Byron Easley. Langston in Harlem will begin previews on Friday, April 9; opening on Thursday, April 15, 2010 and will initially run through May 2, 2010.

IN THE HEIGHTS cast member Doreen Montalvo will host Cabaret Cares 3, a benefit for 'Help Is On The Way Today,' a not-for-profit organization assisting children and teens living with HIV/AIDS in both New York City and Africa. National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will hold its Annual Chairman's Awards Gala and benefit on Monday, April 19 at the St. Regis New York hotel. This year, NCTF Chairman James S. Turley, Chairman & CEO of Ernst & Young, will honor Nathan Lane (returning to Broadway this season in The Addams Family), set designer Eugene Lee (Wicked) and Wells Fargo & Company. Accepting the award on behalf of Wells Fargo will be Joe Kirk, Regional President for New York and Connecticut. All net proceeds of the event will be distributed as the NCTF/WELLS FARGO FUND FOR NEW AMERICAN THEATRE.
