Kansas City Actors Theatre (KCAT) announces its "Excellent Eighth" Season with four shows including two mysteries, one holiday spoof and one regional premiere.

The 18th Season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre and the 31st Season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. concludes with the Musical Comedy MOTHER SUPERIOR'S HABITS when it opens on Friday, April 13. Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Select Sundays at 2pm, this comic musical about growing up Catholic in the 60's will run through Saturday, May 12. There will also be a Special 2pm Sunday Matinee of MOTHER SUPERIOR'S HABITS on Sunday, April 22 at 2pm

The Un-Common Theatre Company presents 'And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank'. This unique theatrical experience will be presented April 13th through April 15th at the Orpheum Theatre, Foxboro, MA.

The Metropolitan Opera today announced the winners of the 2012 National Council Auditions. They are: Janai Brugger, soprano from Darien, IL; Anthony Clark Evans, baritone from Owensboro, KY; Matthew Grills, tenor from Newtown, CT; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo-soprano from Euclid, OH; and Andrey Nemzer, countertenor from Moscow, Russia. The winners were selected from nine finalists who performed arias with the MET Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Davis. Each winner receives a cash prize of $15,000, as well as invaluable career exposure: the audience for the auditions includes influential opera executives, artist managers, and music critics, and some of the biggest stars in opera received their first major recognition as National Council Winners. The Grand Finals Concert was hosted by renowned bass-baritone Eric Owens, a 1996 National Council Auditions winner. During the judges' deliberations, he gave a special performance of "Ella giammai m'amo," King Philip's aria from Verdi's Don Carlo.

Teague Chrystie and Jim Frommeyer ('A Very Calvin and Hobbes Christmas') announce the release of their 28-minute original musical, 'Sad Max.' Written, directed, edited and performed by Chrystie, host of the popular film commentary podcast 'Down in Front' in his first-ever acting performance, and produced by Frommeyer, 'Sad Max' is the kind of project that could only happen in the age of YouTube. The musical is about a YouTube celebrity who was famous for his piano tutorials, and the musical itself is accompanied by actual YouTube piano tutorials for every song in the show. The film, the soundtrack and the tutorials are all available for free on YouTube and SadMaxMusical.com, making this project a celebration of all the things modern internet video can be. The NEW DIORAMA THEATRE, working with emerging theatre company PIT, will open their first in-house theatre show and world premiere of THE DARK ROOM, in April.

The Ruckus Theater presents the workshop premier of Rung by Matt Test, directed by Timo Aker. Rung explores the connection between voice and body. Casts for the project includes Chicago theater favorites and Ruckus regulars. Rung is performed at The Side Project Theatre (1439 W. Jarvis) April 8-10, 2012. The performance on Sunday, April 8th will begin at 3pm. All other performances are at 7:00pm. Tickets are pay what you can.

After nearly twenty years in the old speakeasy, The National Pastime Theater has changed location and unveils Chicago's newest theatrical venue in the Uptown neighborhood with another world premiere custom crafted for NPT's style. In 1994 Michael Sokoloff wrote Red Dog Moon for The National Pastime Theater to open our season in its first permanent home. The inaugural production in its new theatrical venue reunites NPT's Founder and Artistic Director Laurence Bryan and NPT resident playwright Michael Sokoloff in the world premier of A Bend in the Road, a tale of Westward expansion.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER stars Broadway veteran Benjamin Walker as the title role. The film is set to open in theaters on June 22nd from 20th Century Fox. The horror, thriller film, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie, Jimmi Simpson, Jaqueline Fleming and Robin McLeavy. According to the Tokyo Graph, actress Yonekura Ryoko will join the hit revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO this July. She is set to star as Roxy Hart, making her the first Japanese woman to star on Broadway since the 1958 production of Flower Drum Song starring Nancy Umeki. Ryoko will also be the first Japanese performer to portray a lead American character in a long-running Broadway musical.

The South Florida community is invited to celebrate the achievements of the talented theater professionals in the region at the 36th Annual Carbonell Awards on Monday, April 2, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater, at Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 S.W. 5th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. 42nd Street Moon, the company that presents intimate productions of uncommon musicals, concludes its 2011-12 season with a journey to Greece and Crete for the Kander and Ebb classic, ZORBA. Based on the book Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis, this musical is a salute to the spirit of Greece, where Zorba celebrates life, but also lost love, heartbreak and death. Three low-priced previews run May 2, 3 and 4, with the Opening on Saturday May 5 at 6 pm. The show will run through May 20.

According to the Mirror, actress Amanda Holden is set to host 'Superstar,' the new reality show in which Andrew Lloyd Webber will search for the character of Jesus in the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR tour. 'Superstar' is set to begin filming this summer and will air on ITV1.

Patina Miller who originated the role of Deloris Van Cartier will play her final performance in SISTER ACT tonight, March 18th. Miller made her Broadway debut in the production and was nominated for a Tony and Oliver award. As previously announced, actress Raven-Symone will replace her, beginning performances on March 27th. SISTER ACT, which will celebrate its one-year Anniversary on Broadway on April 20, is playing at the Broadway Theater.

The Active Theater (Nathaniel Shaw, Artistic Director) now in its fourth season, presents the New York revival of Richard Greenberg's THE VIOLET HOUR in assocation with Goode Productions.
