The 18th Season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre and the 31st Season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. concludes with the Musical Comedy MOTHER SUPERIOR'S HABITS when it opens on Friday, April 13. Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Select Sundays at 2pm, this comic musical about growing up Catholic in the 60's will run through Saturday, May 12. There will also be a Special 2pm Sunday Matinee of MOTHER SUPERIOR'S HABITS on Sunday, April 22 at 2pm

The Metropolitan Opera today announced the winners of the 2012 National Council Auditions. They are: Janai Brugger, soprano from Darien, IL; Anthony Clark Evans, baritone from Owensboro, KY; Matthew Grills, tenor from Newtown, CT; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo-soprano from Euclid, OH; and Andrey Nemzer, countertenor from Moscow, Russia. The winners were selected from nine finalists who performed arias with the MET Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Davis. Each winner receives a cash prize of $15,000, as well as invaluable career exposure: the audience for the auditions includes influential opera executives, artist managers, and music critics, and some of the biggest stars in opera received their first major recognition as National Council Winners. The Grand Finals Concert was hosted by renowned bass-baritone Eric Owens, a 1996 National Council Auditions winner. During the judges' deliberations, he gave a special performance of "Ella giammai m'amo," King Philip's aria from Verdi's Don Carlo.

Teague Chrystie and Jim Frommeyer ('A Very Calvin and Hobbes Christmas') announce the release of their 28-minute original musical, 'Sad Max.' Written, directed, edited and performed by Chrystie, host of the popular film commentary podcast 'Down in Front' in his first-ever acting performance, and produced by Frommeyer, 'Sad Max' is the kind of project that could only happen in the age of YouTube. The musical is about a YouTube celebrity who was famous for his piano tutorials, and the musical itself is accompanied by actual YouTube piano tutorials for every song in the show. The film, the soundtrack and the tutorials are all available for free on YouTube and SadMaxMusical.com, making this project a celebration of all the things modern internet video can be. In 1994 Michael Sokoloff wrote Red Dog Moon for The National Pastime Theater to open our season in its first permanent home. The inaugural production in its new theatrical venue reunites NPT's Founder and Artistic Director Laurence Bryan and NPT resident playwright Michael Sokoloff in the world premier of A Bend in the Road, a tale of Westward expansion.

According to the Tokyo Graph, actress Yonekura Ryoko will join the hit revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO this July. She is set to star as Roxy Hart, making her the first Japanese woman to star on Broadway since the 1958 production of Flower Drum Song starring Nancy Umeki. Ryoko will also be the first Japanese performer to portray a lead American character in a long-running Broadway musical.

Based on the book Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis, this musical is a salute to the spirit of Greece, where Zorba celebrates life, but also lost love, heartbreak and death. Patina Miller who originated the role of Deloris Van Cartier will play her final performance in SISTER ACT tonight, March 18th. Miller made her Broadway debut in the production and was nominated for a Tony and Oliver award. As previously announced, actress Raven-Symone will replace her, beginning performances on March 27th. SISTER ACT, which will celebrate its one-year Anniversary on Broadway on April 20, is playing at the Broadway Theater.
