Taproot Theatre will present the regional premiere of Leaving Iowa. Written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton and directed by Karen Lund, Leaving Iowa opens on May 18 and runs through June 16, with previews on May 16 and 17.

The Gift Theatre Company will host a limited engagement presentation of co-founder William Nedved's Fact & Fiction - which enjoyed a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival - for five performances Thursday, May 24th at 7:30pm; Friday, May 25th at 7:30pm and 10:00pm; and Saturday, May 26th at 7:30pm and 10:00pm. Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theatre have received a transformational $18 million gift from the Robina Foundation that will permanently endow the creation of new plays and musicals for the American stage through the Binger Center for New Theatre.

Cape Town Opera returns to the UK this June & July for a tour of their acclaimed Porgy and Bess, culminating in a two week run at the London Coliseum. Tsakane Maswanganyi, who previously thrilled audiences in the title role of Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall will play Bess, while Xolela Sixaba will reprise the role of Porgy having won great acclaim for his performance in 2009.

Mixing fact and fiction, faith and science, theatricality and stark realism, playwright Al Smith explores the legacy of war on youth by having Enola, the 8-year-old daughter of the man who built the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, walk him through that fateful summer. Rogers Park-based theatre company, the side project, will present the U.S. premiere of Enola, which won the 2006 Sunday Times (U.K.) Playwriting Award, as part of its three-show Spring Repertory, starting May 13.

GRAVITY is a superhero party show about a broken world ruled by an evil underlord and the four heroes who band together to defeat her and save their planet. It will be presented June 7-17 at House of Yes in East Williamsburg (342 Maujer St. - L train to Grand).

Starting this summer, EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL will be taking up residency in Sin City at The Plaza Hotel and Casino in the heart of fabulous downtown Las Vegas. Sirc Michaels Productions is presenting the show at The Insurgo Theater, a 100-seat showroom located on the 3rd floor of the casino.

The Jeff Awards today announced 124 nominations in 25 categories for Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff Awards judges covered opening nights of 154 productions offered by 71 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 64 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty-two theatre companies received nominations.

The founding members of The Beach Boys, one of the world's most legendary bands in popular music history, have reunited for a global 50th Anniversary celebration, including a new album release, a major international tour, and commemorative catalog releases. Today, The Beach Boys announce details about their new studio album, That's Why God Made The Radio, to be released June 5 by Capitol/EMI.

After two years of dedicated research and development, Digital Theatre in partnership with Routledge have announced the launch in the coming academic year of The Routledge Performance Archive - an international performing arts archive of video and text for educational institutions around the world. The Routledge/Digtital Theatre Partnership will provide access to an archive of primary materials by some of the world's greatest practitioners, for the teaching and study of performance.

Blue Apple Theatre and writer William Jessop re-invent Shakespeare's HAMLET in a fresh and powerful adaptation using Shakespeare's original language. The producers of the upcoming West End production LET IT BE are looking for talented musicians to play the parts of PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE & RINGO in the show, from September 2012. Open auditions will be held at the Cavern Club in Liverpool on Tuesday 1 May, and at the Gielgud Theatre in London on Tuesday 8 May. The Cavern Club was home to many of The Beatles' early performances.
