Set for East Village Concert, May 24May 2, 2012On Thursday, May 24 at 8pm, composer and vocalist Lisa Bielawa will present a concert with friends from the chorus of Einstein on the Beach at The Stone (Avenue C and 2nd Street, NYC), as part of a series of performances at the East Village venue curated by Gyan Riley. Lisa Bielawa is the choirmaster of Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's monumental opera, currently touring worldwide. The singers are preparing for their appearance at The Stone, which features vocal music by Bielawa, while on the road together.

International Voices Project's THIRD WING Set for May 8May 2, 2012The International Voices Project will present their first performance of 2012, THIRD WING (TERCER CUERPO) from Argentina, on Tuesday May 8 at 7pm at the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, 31 West Ohio St., in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes and the Consulate General of Argentina in Chicago. Written by Claudio Tocalchir, translated by Jean Graham-Jones and directed by Emilio Williams, the play is free and open to the public.

Thea Sharrock to Direct West End THE BODYGUARD for November Opening Starring Heather Headley and Lloyd OwenMay 1, 2012Thea Sharrock is to direct The Bodyguard, a new musical opening at the Adelphi Theatre in Autumn 2012 based on the Warner Bros. film of the same name with screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan. Starring Heather Headley as Rachel Marron and Lloyd Owen as Frank Farmer in the roles made famous on film by the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, tickets for The Bodyguard go on sale today (1 May 2012) taking bookings until 27 April 2013 for the production's first booking period. Previews begin on 6 November 2012, twenty years after the release of the Oscar nominated film. Opening night is 5 December.
All-City FOOTLOOSE Set for Ohio Theatre at PlayhouseSquare, 6/1-3 - Tony Sias and Kimberly Brown DirectMay 1, 2012The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) will present its thirteenth annual All-City Musical, Footloose to crown the District's 2011-12 series of All-City Arts Programming. The production features the talents of over fifty CMSD students from across the District and will take place on the stage of the Ohio Theatre at PlayhouseSquare, June 1 - 3, 2012. Tony Sias, Director of Arts Education for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, co-directs the production with Kimberly Brown. Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford, Footloose was adapted for the stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. The show's music was written by Tom Snow with lyrics by Dean Pitchford. Additional music for Footloose was written by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman.
