Magic Theatre is proud to welcome back award-winning playwright Luis Alfaro with the world premiere of Bruja, a reimagining of Euripides' Medea, running from May 24 - June 24. From the critically acclaimed writer of Oedipus el Rey, comes a contemporary story so haunting and sensual, it explodes one of the ancient myths most firmly embedded in our culture.

Shakespeare Orange County has announced their 21st season: Richard III, Venus and Adonis and Much Ado About Nothing. Richard III will feature John Walcutt in the title role with Carl Reggiardo directing the production. According to Producing Artistic Director, Thomas F. Bradac, "2012 promises to be the most ambitious season in our twenty one year old history." Bradac will direct both Venus and Adonis and Much Ado About Nothing. The award winning company performs in the 550-seat Festival Amphitheatre in Garden Grove, CA.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents 'The Brementown Musicians,' Friday, May 18. This story is part of the 2011-12 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, May 18, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse has announced an additional title for the upcoming, 2012-13 season: 'The Kid Who Ran for President,' Mar. 1-17, 2013. This Kate Goldman Children's Theatre show will join previously announced 'A Little House Christmas,' Nov. 9-Dec. 2, 2012; 'The Monster Under the Bed,' Jan. 11-27, 2013; and 'Seussical,' Apr. 26-May 19, 2013.

The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival will announce the program for this year's theme, Tennessee Williams and Music, at its first gala fundraising dinner on June 2, 2012. Guests will be treated to a sneak preview of one of this year's productions, "Autumn Song," an exclusive auction and art exhibition of white-line woodcuts by Bill Evaul, and a special appearance by entertainer Zoe Lewis.

On 10 May, 2012, following an all-day meeting at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, the CATS judges announced the following shortlists for the ten categories of the 2011-12 awards. The winners will be announced at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow, on Sunday 10 June.

Nashville artist Giro Gabayoyo's work, FristFridays, received the largest number of votes in the Frist Center for the Visual Arts' first online exhibition of local artists' work selected from the To See As Artists See the Frist contest on Facebook. Inspired by the exhibition To See as Artists See: American Art from The Phillips Collection, which was on view in the Ingram Gallery through May 6, local artists submitted their work to be voted on via Facebook "likes;" the submissions chosen as finalists will remain on exhibition in an online gallery on the Frist Center's website and Facebook page through July 31, 2012.
