Variety has announced that Al Pacino will play the title role in 'King Lear,' an adaptation of the Shakespeare play that will be directed by Michael Radford. Radford, who wrote the script, is making his second Shakespearean foray with Pacino after their 2004 collaboration 'Merchant of Venice,' which cast Pacino as Shylock.

Variety is reporting that former BOEING-BOEING star and Trading Spaces host Paige Davis has been picked to to host Life for Dummies, a new lifestyle-oriented syndicated show being developed by A. Smith and Co.

Musicals Tonight! continues its season with CABARET GIRL at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre, 2162 Broadway, (above the Promenade Theatre- Broadway at 76th Street), 3rd Floor. beginning March 3rd, the production will play through March 15th.

Told through 24 songs and actual first-hand accounts, the new musical revue----Brother, Can You Spare A Dime? Songs and Stories from The Great Depression will open Sunday, March 8th (3PM) at Off-Broadway's Triad Theatre (158 West 72nd Street ~ between Broadway & Columbus Avenue). Conceived and staged by Bill Daugherty, this musical time capsule is produced by Thoroughbred Records and Max Weintraub. Preview performances begin March 6th (7PM) & March 7th (3PM) This engagement will run through June 14th.

West Side Story comes to glorious life on the stage of the Palace Theatre on Febuary 23rd, the first scheduled preview performance. West Side Story's official Opening Night on Broadway is set for March 19th, 2009.

Kern and Hammerstein's Music in the Air, the second Encores! production of New York City Center's 2008-09 season runs February 5-8. Music in the Air, a rarely seen 1932 musical, is directed by Gary Griffin with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Michael Lichtefeld. The production runs for five performances at City Center, West 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues).
