ArtsBridge Foundation, the producer of the 8th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards, last night announced the winners of the 2016 awards during a ceremony at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Check out the highlight video below!

Shelbea Owen, a rising senior at Marietta High School, is one of the winners who will be representing the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards in New York City this week as she competes in the 8th annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards - The JimmyTM Awards. Shelbea won the 2016 Shuler Leading Actress award for her role as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. 

The national tour of 42nd Street just wrapped up a 3-week run at Hollywood's historic Pantages Theatre.  The cast shows off their dance moves in this ode to JT's "Can't Stop the Feeling" and celebration of summertime!

The 2016 Bobby G Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement in Colorado high-school theatre, were held May 26 at the Buell Theatre. Each of the five nominated Outstanding Musicals performed songs or medleys before the crowd of 1,700. Below are excerpts from each of those performances. The featured productions were: Cherry Creek High School's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Denver School of the Arts' Spring Awakening; Mountain View High School's Anything Goes; Arvada West High School's Les Miserables; and Fairview High School's Guys and Dolls.  

Bill Hanney's award-winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) presents a new production of FUNNY GIRL, starring Broadway's Shoshana Bean in the lead role of Fanny Brice. Goodspeed Musicals continues its commitment to innovative, thought-provoking works with a bold reimagining of the witty and ridiculous The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd. The tremendously talented cast of four will be Tony Sheldon playing the role of Sir,Caesar Samayoa appearing as Cocky, Michelle Aravena as The Kid, and Gregory Treco as The Stranger. WEST END BARES, the hottest theatrical fundraiser of the year that benefits the Make A Difference Trust is back, bigger and barer for 2016 with two shows on Sunday 25 September at 7.00pm and 9.30pm.

The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company presents Romeo and Juliet, the fifth production in the inaugural Plays at the Garrick season. The cast features Lily James (Juliet), Richard Madden (Romeo), Derek Jacobi (Mercutio), Meera Syal as the Nurse. Romeo and Juliet opened at the Garrick Theatre on 12 May until 13 August.  Press night was 25 May. The production will be broadcast live to cinemas on 7 July.

Santtu-Matias Rouvali is set to become Chief Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony, the National Orchestra of Sweden. The 30-year old, recently hailed by the Guardian (London) as "the latest sit-up-and-listen talent to emerge from the great Finnish conducting tradition", will take up his new position at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. His appointment underlines the special relationship forged between conductor and orchestra in August 2014 with Rouvali's debut programme of works by Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Bernstein. Critical acclaim has followed their subsequent performances together, with Hakan Dahl of Goteborgs-Posten praising Rouvali as 'absolutely superb' (October 2015).

Idomeneo at Garsington Opera 2016 is a new production from director Tim Albery and conductor Tobias Ringborg. Tim gave an insight into his plans for the staging and what the opera means to him.  Performances are June 19 - July 11.  Check out the video below!
