Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present the modern American masterpiece, AMERICAN BUFFALO, by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, David Mamet. A hilarious, banter-fueled heist comedy and a heartbreaking portrait of criminal desperation, AMERICAN BUFFALO revolves around three men in a Chicago junk shop as they plan a heist of a rare coin collection. Directed by Peter Wray, AMERICAN BUFFALO runs from October 27 to November 20 every Thursday through Sunday on the MET stage. There will be one preview performance ($5 cash tickets at the door - no reservations) on Thursday, October 27 at 8pm. The Press Opening on Sunday (10/30) at 7pm will be preceded by a reception at 6pm catered by The Greene Turtle. Llord's Cordials will be providing prizes for the Look-alike contest winners and will supply 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' themed cocktails for the event.

The first professional gig on Bill Forrester's resume is Assistant Scenic Designer for a 1959 NY summer stock production starring Gloria Swanson & Groucho Marx. Not a bad start. Fifty two years later, Theatre Puget Sound is thrilled to announce that Bill Forrester will become the 14th individual to receive the illustrious Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the 3rd Annual Gregory Awards Ceremony being held at ACT Theatre on October 17, 2011 as part of ARTS CRUSH month.

The State Theater Center for the Arts will be hosting an exhibit of works by members of the Arts Community of Easton in the Brown-Daub Gallery from September 17th, 2011 through November 27, 2011. The ACE Annual Group Show highlights the work of ACE members whose works encompass painting, photography, fiber, jewelry and mixed media. Some of the ACE artists exhibiting are: Nancy Bossert, Ben Gilmore, Isadore LaDuca, Pamelee LaDuca, Charles Hanson, Howard McGinn, Robert Noonan, Kim Robertson and Cynthia Underhill. Work by the ACE members incorporates traditional genre painting as well as modern and abstract styles and is an exquisite snapshot of the talent and diversity of the arts in Easton and surrounding areas. This year's show juror is Kathryn Burke, Director of the Muhlenberg Art Galleries, Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA.

The Alden in McLean opens its new "Live @ The Alden" performance series for teens and young adults with a special guitar workshop and performance by acclaimed blues artist and historian Scott Ainslie. The guitar workshop will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Ainslie will perform at 8 p.m. Tickets for the workshop are $10, $5 for McLean tax district residents. Tickets for the performance are $20, $15 for McLean tax district residents. The Alden is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

This November, in Juilliard School's Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Anne Manson will conduct the U.S. premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Kommilitonen! (Young Blood!) - an opera co-commissioned by Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music - which received its world premiere in London this past March to remarkable critical acclaim. The production opens Juilliard's 2011-12 Vocal Arts season on Wednesday, November 16 at 8 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 18 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 20 at 2 PM. David Pountney, librettist of the opera, provides stage direction, sets and costumes are by Robert Innes Hopkins, and choreography is by Carolum Choa.
