Today, Tuesday, October 25, 2011, the Grammy® Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra released its third recording on its record label, ASO Media, for physical distribution. Distributed by Naxos of America, this all-Rachmaninov release features Music Director Robert Spano leading the Orchestra in Piano Concerto No. 3 with Garrick Ohlsson, a frequent guest and friend of the Orchestra - this release marks Mr. Ohlsson's first-ever recording of the concerto. Also on the recording is Symphonic Dances, a signature Robert Spano/Atlanta Symphony collaboration, as Mr. Spano has led the work on tour, as well as repeatedly in Atlanta with the Orchestra.

The scene is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by 'Froggy' LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time 'Froggy' has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So 'Froggy,' before departing, tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Once alone the fun really begins, as Charlie overhears more than he should.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, T.D. formally opened the 60th Wexford Festival Opera in front of an estimated crowd of 20,000 in a ceremony on Wexford's glorious quay front, following which a fanfare from the brass section of the Wexford Festival Orchestra triggered a spectacular fireworks display heralded the official start of the 16 day event. The 60th Anniversary Wexford Festival Opera runs until Saturday, November 5th.

On Thursday, October 27, Emory University's Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will come together for 'A Family Affair.' The event, chaired by Madeline and Howell Adams, will feature dinner and a concert. Led by Music Director Robert Spano, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform the U.S. premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's Nyx in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. The program also will include Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy and Rachmaninov's The Bells.
