Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Will & Jada Pinkett Smith have enthusiastically joined the producing team of Fela!, the new Broadway musical based on the life and music of African composer and performer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, marking the first Broadway production that these entertainment icons have presented.

The complete cast and creative team is set for the Globe's 12th annual production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The annual holiday musical, directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, will run in the Old Globe Theatre November 21 - December 27. Previews run from Nov. 21 - Nov. 26. Opening night is Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Southern Rep, the region's premiere professional theatre, expands it's education branch Academy SRT to offer not only classes, but plays for kids and teens to do! Academy SRT's production of original play Enchanted Holiday Celebration will be directed by Academy SRT Instructor Julie Faust. Rehearsals begin November 30, 2009 with performances December 12 & 13, 2009 on stage at Southern Rep.

Company XIV, a Black Book Magazine ‘Icon Of The Future', presents an Apple Triptych featuring the World Premiere of their family holiday show Snow White, a revival of Le Serpent Rouge and a revival of The Judgment of Paris. All three dance-theater shows are conceived, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick, with adapted text also by McCormick. The shows run from December 3, 2009 to January 17, 2010 in a limited 7-week engagement at the company's home space at 303 Bond St. (between Union & Sackett) in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Previews begin December 3 and openings begin December 10.

BoHo Theatre announced today that their production of the regional premiere of The Glorious Ones will extend until November 22nd. They are also offering a $5 discount on each ticket bought before November 18th.

For the past 10 weeks, an intrepid group of writers of various ages and backgrounds have participated in a theater workshop organized by the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Perhaps the most eclectic writing group in the downtown area, this year's 'Writers in Performance' include Thierry Lundy, a one-man show dynamo from the 'City of Brotherly Love;' Justinah McFadden, a published poet . . . who also happens to be a seasoned member of the NYPD; and Sabrina Michaeli, a spirited travel and pop culture blogger. On November 20 and 21 at 8pm, this diverse, literary brigade will perform works exploring the ever murky concept of 'freedom.'

Natalie Toro brings her critically acclaimed solo show to the Cabaret at the Connoisseur Room from New York's Metropolitan Room where she performed to sold out audiences. She will perform for three performances only on Friday, November 13 at 7:30 and Saturday, November 14 at 6 and 9:30pm.

Theresa Rebeck's THE UNDERSTUDY, currently playing off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre as part of the Roundabout Theatre Company's current season, opened on November 5 and seems to be charming audiences and critics alike.

Carl Prekopp has replaced Rob James Collier as Lawrence/Liam in the West End run of CALENDAR GIRLS. The production will close on 9 January.

Electric City Playhouse will present MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW by Douglas Poate from February 4 through the 27th. The production will be directed by Jimmy O. Burdette and upstate bluegrass musicians Mitch and Perry Kneown will star. The pre-show will feature The Jimmy O Trio.

Electric City Playhouse has announced that it is the first community theatre in the country (other than Barter Theatre in Virginia) to obtain the rights to perform the premier of SHOWTIME AT FIRST BAPTIST by Ron Osborne. The show will run from December 3rd to the 20th and is directed by Jimmy O. Burdette.
