Beau Higgins Currently spending his time between New York and Florida, Beau was born to a theatrical family in Brooklyn. He studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and at HB Studios. He studied theater singing with Julia Sperratore and Helen Gallagher. Beau later taught drama at the Lincoln Center Square for the Arts. It was at this time Beau began working with the Theater Development Fund and helped found New York's famed HALF PRICE TICKET BOOTH. Early in his career, Beau was screen tested and contracted for Warner Brothers. He co-hosted, an early cable variety series on Manhattan's Teleprompter channel. At this time he directed the Johnny Specca musical, SEX IS..? at the Lincoln Center Library Theater. Beau has performed Off-Broadway in FAT FELL DOWN, The Comic Strip Theater's LITTLE LULU AND THE INVISIBLE INK and WILL THE REAL ZOOPERMAN PLEASE STAND UP. Around the country he has delighted audiences with his performances in ANYTHING GOES, THE APPLE TREE, GUYS & DOLLS, and HELLZAPOPPIN! He sang for New York audiences at such cabarets as The Duplex and Upstairs at the Downstairs. He has had numerous television appearances but is most proud to have been a winning contestant on the game shows JACKPOT and THE $20,000 PYRAMID.

'Red, White And Tuna' At The Waterfront

The Future Of Broadway Training This Summer At Broadway Theatre Project

This July, two hundred apprentices from all over the country (as well as the UK and Canada) will head to the University of South Florida to participate in Broadway Theatre Project, an intense three-week training session in all things musical theatre. The apprentices, who range in age from 16-24, are taught acting, singing and dancing by industry professionals who have appeared on Broadway, in television and in major motion pictures. Tampa Bay-area alums who are now faculty members and will be returning to teach this summer (schedules permitting) include: Kelly King, currently the dance captain of the Radio City Rockettes, Monica Raymund, currently appearing in the TV show Lie to Me on Fox and Patrick Wilson, whose latest film Insidious is currently in theatres nationwide.

2011 Young Playwrights Festival Winners Announced

CHINATOWN MIAMI As PlayGround Theatre Premieres 'The Red Thread'

On Sunday, April 17th from 12 pm to 6 pm, everyone is invited to join The PlayGround Theatre's celebration of this newest production by attending CHINATOWN Miami in Miami Shores. CHINATOWN Miami is a Chinese street festival that will fill Miami Shores with the sights, sounds, and tastes of the diverse cultures of China. Six blocks of downtown Miami Shores, NE 2nd Avenue from 94th to 100th streets, will be closed off for CHINATOWN Miami. The Chinese street festival is free and open to the public, and includes a green market, food, arts and crafts vendors, musicians, and shows for children that include magicians and dragons. The 2pm performance of The Red Thread will be followed by a traditional Chinese dragon parade featuring actors from the production, in addition to a post-performance VIP Chinese dining experience next to the theatre (tickets will be required).
