The Boca Raton Theatre Guild announced the plays it has selected for its 2011-2012 season: Sarah Jones' Bridge and Tunnel, Charles Busch's Tales of the Allergist's Wife, the musical Sweet Charity, and Paulette Dozier in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. They will all play at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park.

Miami's Mad Cat Theatre Company has been committed to creating an alternate theatrical universe for eleven years now by specializing in their own brand of irreverent and always evolving, never arriving original plays. Now Mad Cat is continuing that tradition with the Miami Light Project which is presenting So My Grandmother Died, Blah Blah Blah at the new Light Box at Goldman Warehouse located at 404 NW 26th Street in the Wynwood Art Gallery District in Miami.

On September 15, Louis Armstrong comes back to life at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre where Dennis Neal stars in the world premiere of Terry Teachout's Satchmo at the Waldorf, a one-man play about the most beloved jazzman of all time. Set at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong performed in public for the last time before his death in 1971, Satchmo at the Waldorf is a theatrical tour de force, a play in which the same actor portrays Armstrong and Joe Glaser, the trumpeter's controversial manager. Inspired by their actual words, the play takes a searching look at the complex relationship between the genius from New Orleans who turned jazz into a swinging art form and the hard-nosed, tough-talking ex-gangster from Chicago who made him an international icon.

Mosaic Theatre, the award-winning professional Equity theatre at American Heritage launches its Eleventh Anniversary Season with Michael Weller's critically acclaimed drama Side Effects (September 15 - October 9), a provocative companion piece to Fifty Words by the author of Loose Ends and Moonchildren. Side Effects is 'one of the best plays of the year,' raves the Times Square Chronicle, 'a play that is a must see!'

TV Star Ella Joyce headlines the 4th Annual Aurora Jacksonville Black Arts Festival, July 22-24, 2011. Actress Ella Joyce, best known for her co-starring role of Eleanor on FOX TV's 'Roc', and Jasmine on 'My Wife & Kids, captures the famous moment in the life of Rosa Parks, affectionately called 'Mother of the Civil Rights Movement', in her highly acclaimed, one-woman play A Rose Among Thorns, a Tribute to Rosa Parks; Created & Performed by ELLA JOYCE and Directed by Dan Martin. A ROSE AMONG THORNS will take place on Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF begins its 2011-2012 Signature Series with Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, a rousing escapade of romance, mistaken identities and comic twists, playing at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center from September 14 - October 9, 2011.

The participants include Infinite Abyss Productions, Thinking Cap Theatre, Immeasurable Theatre, The Alliance Theatre Lab, Three Lefts Productions; theatre artists Vanessa Garcia, Lea Roy, Bradford Sadler and Wendy White. The producers of the Tony Award® winning LA CAGE AUX FOLLES have announced that Palm Beach's favorite son George Hamilton will star in the new production that will run next year at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The show was one of the Great White Way's biggest hit in 2010 and is coming here as part of the 2011-2012 Kravis On Broadway series.

This season's theme of 'family' is kicked off with the Bard's triumphant family history, Henry V, adapted and directed by Ronald Mangravite, running August 26 - September 11, 2011. Henry V, the final play about the reigning family crown, chronicles King Henry V's war with France over land and titles. As part of the National New Play Network's Continued Life for New Plays Fund and in conjunction with Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival in Kentucky and Actor's Express Theatre in Atlanta, New Theatre presents the rolling World Premiere of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them by recent Yale Playwrighting graduate A. Rey Pamatmat and directed by THE NEW's Artistic Director, Ricky J. Martinez, running October 14 - 30, 2011.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly announced six new presentations featuring internationally and nationally-renowned plays, two world premieres and critically-acclaimed artists, many from South Florida, to headline the 2011-2012 THEATER UP CLOSE SEASON in the Arsht Center's intimate Carnival Studio Theater.

The Summer Jazz Camp at the Arts at St. Johns in Miami Beach includes Jazz music history, introduction to the fundamental language of Jazz, Latin rhythms, Jazz theory and technique, Jazz improvisation, and small-group ensemble jam sessions.

With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, 'The Pillowman' centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. 'Comedies don't come any blacker than 'The Pillowman,' stated the New York Times. 'Even those familiar with this British dramatist's [McDonagh's] blithe way with murder, mutilation and dismemberment may be jolted by the events described and simulated so picturesquely...(Advisory note: severed fingers and heads, electric drills, barbed wire and premature burial all figure prominently.)'

Rising Action Theatre announced its 2011-2012 Fifth Anniversary Season. Five plays and musicals, celebrating the diversity and promoting tolerance through the theatre arts, will comprise the Season, beginning in September.

Benise's The Spanish Guitar has been hailed as 'The Latin Riverdance!' FST's hit country musical Cowgirls has been extended through July 17, due to popular demand. The 'energetic' musical is under the direction of Mary Murfitt (concept of COWGIRLS/composer/lyricist) and music direction by Mary Ehlinger (musical arrangments for COWGIRLS), and brings together six talented actresses-singers-musicians 'for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of musical theatre.'
