Arsht Center Announces Box Office Opening Event NO HANDLING FEE DAYAugust 30, 2011The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County announced its 2011-2012 Box Office Opening, with more than 20 jazz, Broadway, theater, dance, classical music and pops concert performances going on sale for the first time to the general public, beginning at 12 noon on Sunday, September 18, 2011. Plus, FOR ONE DAY ONLY, all handling fees will be waived in celebration of the box office opening event, which features the first opportunity to buy single tickets to world-class performers and award-winning shows slated for the Arsht Center's 11-12 season, including Shrek the Musical, Twyla Tharp's Come Fly Away, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Jazz Meets Gershwin, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Sergio Mendes and many more.

Set at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong performed in public for the last time before his death in 1971, Satchmo at the Waldorf is a theatrical tour de force, a play in which the same actor portrays Armstrong and Joe Glaser, the trumpeter's controversial manager.
