Marin Alsop Leads Felix Hell, BSO in Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony, 3/14-17by BWW News Desk - Mar 5, 2013Music Director Marin Alsop leads the BSO and German concert organist Felix Hell in Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3, "Organ", on Thursday, March 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program also includes Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Poulenc's Organ Concerto. Maestra Alsop and Mr. Hell will continue their collaborative efforts in an Off the Cuff performance of Saint-Saens' 'Organ' Symphony on Friday, March 15 at 8:15 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Megan Hilty, Matthew Morrison & More to Be Featured in Boston Pops' Spring 2013 Seasonby BWW News Desk - Apr 4, 2013The 2013 Boston Pops season, May 8-June 15, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, will present a season-long tribute to the world of movie music, along with programs featuring a wide variety of American musical styles, including jazz, bluegrass, country, gospel, pop, classic standards from the 50s and 60s, and show-stopping songs of Broadway and the American Songbook. For the programs focusing on the season theme, 'Best of Hollywood Film Music,' audiences will hear their favorite music from classic movies and today's popular soundtracks performed live by the Boston Pops, while the accompanying movie clips are projected onto a giant screen suspended above the orchestra.
