The Sorcerer - 2017 - Off-Broadway History , Info & More

Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre
5 West 63rd St. New York, NY 10023

The Sorcerer or, The Vicar's Reduction of Tea. The Vicar's brew inadvertently administers a love potion concocted by a highly respectable and old-established Family Sorcerer to the populace of a quaint English village. This cleverly reduced version of the Gilbert & Sullivan classic features the village's eight colorful characters, plus the notable outsider John Wellington Wells of patter song fame. The intimate setting puts the focus squarely on the personal relationships, witty dialogue, and lush score of the creators as brewed by a cast of nine expert singing actors and one accomplished pianist.

Ring Forth, Ye Bells
When He Is Here
The Air Is Charged
Time Was When Love and I Were Well Acquainted
My Kindly Friends
With Heart and with Voice
Oh Happy Young Heart!
Welcome Joy, Adieu to Sadness!
Love Feeds on Many Kinds of Food
My Name Is John Wellington Wells
Let Us Fly to a Far-Off Land
Now to the Banquet We Press
'Tis Twelve I Think
Dear Friends, Take Pity on My Lot
Oh Joy! Oh Joy!
Thou Hast the Power
I Rejoice That It's Decided
Hate Me! I Drop My H's
Oh, Agony, Rage, Despair!
Oh, My Voice Is Sad and Low
Oh, Joyous Boon! Oh, Mad Delight!
Alas! That Lovers Thus Should Meet
Or He or I Must Die!
