Free Movie Mondays Return to Segerstrom Center for the Arts, July-Aug 2013

What has become an annual favorite outdoor arts series in Orange County, Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Free Movie Mondays---returning for its seventh summer---will continue the popular summer pastime of providing great entertainment on the Arts Plaza for OC audiences to enjoy. THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS Opens February 25 in Pittsburgh

The National Tour of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, will star original Broadway cast members ALICIA HALL MORANas Bess, NATHANIEL STAMPLEY as Porgy and PHILLIP BOYKIN as Crown. The tour will also feature Broadway cast members SUMAYYA ALI as Clara, DAN BARNHILL as the Detective, BRYONHA MARIE PARHAM as Serena, ALLISON BLACKWELL as a Woman of Catfish Row, ROOSEVELT ANDRE CREDIT as a Fisherman and JOSEPH DELLGER as the Policeman. East West Players Extends Run of Musical CHESS to June 23rd

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, has extended the run of CHESS, now through June 23rd, 2013. All performances are staged at the David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts at 120 Judge John Aiso St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Performances are Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at2pm. (more...)

The Pasadena Playhouse, in association with David Shor Productions, presents SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE - THE MUSICAL. Single tickets are also currently on sale. Creator Michael McElroy (TONY nomination, BIG RIVER) will lead The Broadway Inspirational Voices in their 3rd Annual Spring concert to create an evening of hope, joy, and inspiration. With members representing such shows as Motown: The Musical, The Lion King, Wicked, Spiderman, The Book of Mormon, Annie, Kinky Boots, and many more, "Expect the Great" will include a wide array of inspirational repertoire, including a few original pieces by McElroy. TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series Seeks Submissions; Deadline 6/10

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) seeks submissions for the 13th Annual TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series, and increases the opportunities for musical theater writers by creating the first-ever Musical Writers First Act Feedback Fest (FAFF). Writers, producers and theater companies are welcome to submit new musicals for both the developmental reading series which takes place Mondays in December 2013, and the daylong feedback festival on Saturday July 20, 2013, 10am to 5pm. Non members may submit to the TRU Voices New Musicals Series (completed musicals only) for a $25 fee, submit to the First Act Feedback Fest (completed shows or works-in-progress) for $20, or apply to both for $35. Deadline for both is June 10, 2013; deadline for JUST the TRU Voices Series is August 10. (more...)

terraNOVA COLLECTIVE and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling, are pleased to present acclaimed mime, Bill Bowers' BEYOND WORDS, straight from a White House engagement to the west village: BEYOND WORDS will be a special headliner to kick off the 10TH Annual soloNOVA Arts Festival, the award-winning and longest-running solo performance festival in New York City, performing Wednesday May 22 at 8pm and Saturday May 25 at 2pm at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street, NYC). The eight other solo shows included in the soloNOVA Arts Festival will play two weeks only at IRT Theater (154 Christopher Street, inside the landmark Archive Building).
