Previously reserved for only the country’s wealthiest gentlemen, The Giant Killers tells the true story of the first team of workers to compete in the FA Cup, shining a light on the history of competitive football. Set in 1870s Lancashire, amidst the poverty and social unrest caused by the cotton famine, Darwen FC rose up to become a shining beacon of hope for their town. Facing challenges both on and off the pitch, the team of workers faced lords, knights, and peers as they fought to make football a game for the masses, not just the wealthy and privileged.
