LES MIS Directors Unite! Frances Ruffelle on Introducing Tom Hooper to Trevor Nunn & John Caird

As Frances Ruffelle wrote in her column for The Huffington Post, she was recently invited to a private party at Cameron Mackintosh's home and mingled with "some of the world's top theatre creatives" such as Stephen Sondheim, Les Miserables film director Tom Hooper and the original Les Miserables theatre directors Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

In a "deliciously memorable moment", she introduced Hooper to Nunn and Caird, and "they looked like they were getting on famously."

Ruffelle was Les Miserables' original 'Eponine' on the West End, and is featured in the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of the musical, set for release on Christmas Day. Ruffelle has also appeared on the West End in Children of Eden, Apples, Mack & Mabel, Starlight Express and more.

Under the direction of Hooper, the Les Miserables film stars Hugh Jackman as 'Jean Valjean', Anne Hathaway as 'Fantine', Russell Crowe as 'Javert', Sacha Baron Cohen as Thernardier, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier. Original stage stars Colm Wilkinson, Frances Ruffelle and more reprise their roles from the London production.

Les Miserables originally opened in London at the Barbican Theatre on 8 October 1985, transferred to the Palace Theatre on 4 December 1985 and moved to its current home at the Queen's Theatreon 3 April 2004. When LES MISERABLES celebrated its 21st London birthday on 8 October 2006, it became the World's Longest Running Musical, surpassing the record previously held by "Cats" in London's West End. In January 2010, The West End production broke another record by celebrating its historic 10,000th performance.
