BIO
Samantha Barks began her professional music career with the release of her debut album Looking in Your Eyes (2007). That year, she performed at the Peel Bay Festival and competed in the Maltese International Song Competition, winning Best Foreign Singer. In 2008, she gained national recognition as a finalist on I'd Do Anything, finishing in third place. Following the show, she starred as Sally Bowles in the UK tour of Cabaret (2008–2009).
Barks went on to appear in stage productions and concerts, including the title role in Aladdin (2009–2010). She achieved further recognition playing Éponine in the West End production of Les Misérables (2010–2011), and reprised the role in the 25th Anniversary Concert (2010). She also released the single “Let Go” (2010/2011). In 2011, she performed in multiple concert productions and starred in Oliver! on its UK tour (2011–2013). She also starred in the Disney Channel series Groove High (2012).
In 2012, Barks made her film debut reprising Éponine in Les Misérables. She continued screen work with roles in The Christmas Candle and Bitter Harvest, and appeared in Dracula Untold (scenes deleted) and A Hundred Streets. On stage, she played Velma Kelly in Chicago (2013) and took part in workshops for Bend It Like Beckham (2013).
Barks starred in Amélie, A New Musical (2015) and appeared in productions including The Last Five Years (2016). She released her self-titled album Samantha Barks and toured in 2016–2017. In 2018, she made her Broadway debut in Pretty Woman.
She later returned to the West End as Elsa in Frozen (from 2021). In 2023, she appeared as a judge on Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, and in 2025, she won The Masked Singer. She starring as Charity Barnum in the stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman.
